Default Pro street front clip to replace wrecked front clip?

I'm in the middle of a '66 coupe resto-mod that my dad gave to me 2 years ago after years of bothering him to restore it.

I am not a purist, I feel value of these cars is diminishing with the new generations so I am limiting my budget to 20k ( goal is 15k). My plan is to have a good driver with some modern tech that I can drive daily and enjoy.

So, as the type who's always finding good deals I saw a front end on the classifieds and purchased it after looking it over for $700.

The front end came off a pro street '66 vette from Canada...There is small tube bracing underneath and the headlights have been removed and replaced with fiberglass.

My plan is to install projector headlights, eliminating the motors, buckets etc.

For those of you that know fiberglass and corvette bodywork what do you think of this front end?...I feel it has potential but still a decent amount of work to get it on the car with an original small block hood.

Any concerns you see or can think of, or problems I will come across?

Thanks in advance

I like what you're doing since my '64 has fixed headlights, etc. PM me your email address and I'll send you some of my build photos.

PM sent.

As far as the headlights, here's a 1964 with projector headlights, this is what I am planning on doing.

The front end you bought was made from a one piece mold someone made. Sometimes the race cars these are made for are narrowed, lengthened, unreinforced and the fiberglass is thin because they want everything light. It won't last on the street very long in my opinion. Have you checked to see if it will fit?

You will hate yourself every time you want to take the hood off and you need to undo 10 Dzus fasteners.

I did the same thing with a hood. When I bought my 67 coupe Project the guy wanted an extra $300 for the 427 hood but I wanted an L88 hood. I bought one off of craigslist for $100. Biggest mistake I ever made. The hood was a POS and I spent soo many hours on that hood and it's still a POS. When I had the car painted it looked awesome but the guy told me that he didn't expect that hood to stay that way. He was right! Now my hood is a 10 footer. Trying to save a buck ends up coming back to bite you later.

I understand your budget.
But you might want to spend a few extra bucks and install the following:
Stock Radiator support.
Stock fender wells.
Above will enable you to have a stock opening "type Hood" of your choice.

This will make WHATEVER front clip you dicide to install much stronger!

ENJOY the RIDE...

I do plan on reinstalling the stock hood and eliminating the zues fasteners as well as adding all the inner fenders.

As far as the piece the guy told me it was original but modified. It does have the bonding strips inside but seems rather thin. I'll be doing a fit check soon!
