Default My car's Duntov award from 30 years ago

Some of you may have seen my thread about my water pump woes that led me to Bill Mock. In taking to him I came to find out that he used to own my car. He sold it to a guy in town from the local newspaper and then it was sold to a Lee Stigall in OK. He knew Lee and gave me his email address and we talked. He won 4 NCRS awards with the car and a Duntov award in 1988. He has a picture of Zora signing the award. Attached is a scanned copy. Pretty neat to have I think.

That's great! My '64 L76 convertible won a Duntov in 1993 at Grand Lake. And Mock knows his water pumps..........

If you look a the bottom of the plaque you can see Grand Lake '93. I don't know what that is.

It is a small world. Good that you found this info for your car.

Grand Lake, OK would have been the location of the National Convention in 1993. Mike J received a Duntov award for one of his cars there, as your car did in Lancaster PA convention in 1988. Your prior owner must have brought the car back out to the 1993 event to display it. Owners of Duntov award cars are always encouraged to bring their cars back out to National Conventions for others to admire.

It would be nice to get all the original documents so they could stay with the car.

The Duntov Award plaque usually stays with the owner when it was won. They are not transferable to a new owner, as they are owner awards. The Bowtie Award, the other top excellence award (preservation) is transferable to a new owner as it is a car award. A car can win a Duntov for many different owners, a Bowtie is only awarded once in a car's lifetime.
