Default '61 convertible top hold-up straps installation

First an important item. The rear bow is non-magnetic which I'm thinking means that it's a reproduction. In reading JohnZ's detailed explanation of 5/8/2002 I'm unable to find the t-nut. Can anyone post a good picture or two for this? I know that other posts indicate that for some years reproduction bows need modification.

Should I just put the snaps in and leave well enough alone especially since any points deduction will likely be minimal? I could of course drill and tap if that would be a good idea.

Thoughts?

The attached PDF of Rich Mozzetta's work on the repro rear bow probably contains info you can use.

Thanks. I had looked at the article although one person here thought the the rear was aluminum on '61s and '62s. Richard is a real craftsman where I'm just an amateur.

If the top installer pushes my date out any more I'll have to take a look at this. Hopefully he's going to get it done soon.

My '61 rear lower bow is aluminum and I have owned the car since 1974, and know it isn't a repop.

Interesting. At our next local C1 monthly breakfast meeting I'm going to survey the cars that are there.

John, Sent you a email...

I should have titled that article "1956 to 1960...." as 61/62 bows are aluminum. No T-Nuts on those.

That's okay Jim. I never worry about being corrected on stuff as I certainly make LOTS of mistaiks.
