Default widened quarters

The left side rear quarter on my 58 has seen better days. I have a set of old cp200 western wheels that I've had since high school the rears are 10" wide and stick out a bit

. Because the car is not original and has been in a few fender benders I am thinking about putting the 2" widened sriii full rear quarters on. Any of you have these on your cars if so I would love to see some pics. Thanks

I believe. His name here is American retro Dave, he posted some great pics installing them on your body style. Not sure of the year. I used his ideas to mount them on my 61. GTS Customs makes them. They have lots of pics on their web site of your year. It would be worth it to find Daves thread to get his pics. I used bonding strips i made from the old quarters to install mine.

If you or anyone one else looks up the thread I would like to know how to search for threads like that.

I have not seen these but if they alter the outward appearance of the rear fenders at all I would say it would be a mistake to modify the classic look. If you want to run the bigger tires why not narrow the rear axle and modify the insides of the fender wells?

That usually results in the inboard edge of the tire interfering with the outboard edge of the rear spring.

Here are a couple of pics from GTS's web site with their quarters. What's not to like?

Hard to tell from the picture on the black car or the red one with the door opened but if it is not noticeable at first glance compared to a stock body and it solves your problem then go for it if the value is palatable with you credit card.

I had envisioned some bulbous looking flares.

This thread? It's easy when you know who started the post. Look up the members statistics and look through the ones started by them.

No, I had to try a few times to get his username to come up on the member search.

I built 2.5" flares for my '59. It has 325/50R15 Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials, wheels are Weld Prostars, 10" wide, 15" diameter, 6.5" backspacing. It it also has C4 suspension, so no worries about rubbing on the rear springs.

My friend did the GTS flares on his 58. I don't believe anyone mentioned that the stock rear bumpers will no longer fit. You would need 2 pair to cut, add material, reweld and rechrome. That's how I met Garry as I bought his beautiful rear bumpers that would no longer fit on his car !!!

This quarter is 3" wider and it will fit a 315/35/17 and it's with a c4 rear end, plenty of room and no mods to frame

How much clearance do you have from the front of the tire to the closest part of the body/fender on the rear fender with those 325/50 tires

At the closest point, which is approximately in line with the bottom of the door, the clearance is 1.0”. The wheel well openings are pretty much stock size. I tried to extend the stock openings outward so as to maintain the original shape. Below are a few pictures with the drag radials installed.

So all I need is one-inch clearance?
With tire speed, you have no problem with the tire growing and rubbing the body
