Default Fuel hose length

64 365, hose from chassis line to fuel pump. Ropops are 10+” in length. Looks like 6-7” would fit better. Advice before I cut this hose?

Is your purpose to meet NCRS specs? If so, do it right. Otherwise, I would make sure to keep it as far away as possible from the exhaust manifold/pipe.

If it were mine, I'd cut it to whatever length would provide the most gentle curvature to the hose and not permit any kinks to form. Also, from experience, I would slip a coiled spring inside to prevent pump suction from being able to collapse the hose.

So what is right? My goal is to replicate GM , which is usually close if not the same as NCRS, but I also want it to function well. If the purchased length is correct, there must be a secret way to route it without kinking. I’m using the correct fitting/lines and pump. Don’t want it too short so engine movement causes an issue either.

Good thought Jim. This hose is much softer than what seems ideal for suction line.

Is there anything noted in the AIM?

Fuel line hose is labeled as such. If not labeled, do not use it. Dennis

The big vendors have that labeled hose in bulk and cut it to length. I’m sure they give you enough and you can trim to fit the car.
