Where to Look
for a C2. what are your go to web sites when you're looking for a C2 for sale? besides here of course. i've been watching bring a trailer, ebay, craiglist, cars on line, corvette trader, and some of the dealer sites with no luck so far.

What kind of mid year do you want. Word of mouth is good as well.

i agree, from reading here that seems to play a big part. somebody knows a guy that knows a guy. that and the local car scene. but i live in a small town and it hasn't been a good place to look for collector cars since they were new. i posted a WTB on this forum and got some good leads but for one reason or another they didn't pan out.

Are you just looking for a car in your local area? Or nationwide? There should be a fair amount in your area of Florida and I'm sure there will be some for sale at the annual NCRS meet in Kissimmee in January. Also check the cars for sale section of this forum.

warrenmj, i'm pretty much looking every where in north America. when most people think of florida they think of orlando and disney world or miami or tampa/st. pete. i live in what's know as LA (lower alabama) or the red neck riviera, that's the western panhandle of florida. not a great place to look for collector cars. i thought about going to the mecum auction but so far none of the lots listed are what i'm looking for. although, i've been told that there may be 'vettes for sale out side the auction format. anyone here have any experience with this? it's a long way to drive (about 475 miles) if i'm not going to be able to turn up anything. thanks.

What are you looking for in a C2? Post here and it may cause someone to sell if price is right.

Found mine thru a inspector that i had look at a couple of different car for me , passed on the ones he looked at, he was at a cars and coffee in his neighbor hood and saw a 66 convertible parked there, he asked the owner if he wanted to sell he always has people that are wanting cars.
Two or three weeks later the owner called him and said he was ready to sell because he did not have time for his family and the car both.
That is how i got mine great car could not be happier just a thought maybe ask some inspectors in your area and see if there are any car for sale.

I advise looking everywhere all the time.
It took me three years to find mine, and I mostly looked here, Hemmings, Craigslist, etc., etc.
Wound up "discovering" mine at a Chevy dealership - in Florida, when I was on business travel.
Crazy out there.

This is the answer. I’ve bought cars from every venue, in every manner. There’s no go-to way to always buy a car, it’s somewhere waiting for you to find it. Look everywhere.
Word of mouth is always great though, as more people in the hobby provide a network that uncovers what you are looking for.
I looked for 2 years to find a triple black ‘69 roadster with a code 900 trim tag, and a buddy that knew I was looking actually saw a weird little ad in a cheap car and RV ad magazine at a truck stop... the seller wanted a response by snail mail only! I wound up flying to CT and buying the car. Still have it.

I spent at least an hour a day on the internet. I told everyone at car shows I was interested in a silver midyear. I even called several members here on the forum. There were some false alarms, but after three years I found a very small web site, free and used by the locals to sell their cars. There she was. I called the seller and was told I was the first to call and he had posted the ad over a month ago.
Take your time, be patient. These cars are 50 years old, many have issues and sellers may use misleading terminology. Good luck.
