Take lots of pictures, it's only original once. FWIW, the battery tray supports are also 1963 only with the stamped reinforcements, get a repro tray and remove the tray and have it spot welded to the original vertical supports. You may be starting to realize now how unique these 63 cars are with so many one year only parts plus the running changes.
It's a good idea to use all the original fasteners and washers, the battery supports should use bolts with captured lock washers and thick flat washers.

Most likely the plant job number. They ran up thru 500 then started over. My 63 is #334.

Fortunately, it's the same number.
From research I've done, the date of build was supposed to be 11/28/62.

Frame and all it's components were taken to the powder coater for blasting and powder coating.
I'll bet I have at least 95% of the parts cleaned, tagged, bagged and placed into appropriate bins.
All ball joints, bushings, bearings, seals, and rubber (for frame), should arrive today.
Third member in for rebuilding. Heads are off to the machinist. Need to get the internals for the motor ordered, and then get that off to the machinist.
Hopefully within a few weeks I'll be assembling the frame/chassis!
My plan is to get the chassis complete, and then work on the body during the heat of the summer.

Had my exhaust manifolds ceramic coated and asked the guy what he charged for power coating a frame on a C2. He said between 600.00 and 650.00. Compared to what other things cost, it sounded reasonable to me.

I have used this guy over several years (TNT Powder-coating), and he consistently does an outstanding job. He is always more than fair with his price. It's nice to be able to work together knowing that he will treat me right.
But I did take him two extra boxes of parts (all suspension parts, both front and rear), as well as the frame itself.

Man.....I hate sanding. Especially when I want to be extra careful not to sand away the sharp lines on the car. I plan on placing tape over the edges, and save them till last.
But put on a little Led Zeppelin, Lynrd Skynrd, AC/DC, mixed with some James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Smokey Robinson, and of course Hank Junior, Johnny Cash and Alabama.....and the time goes by much easier. LOL!!

Man.....I hate sanding. Especially when I want to be extra careful not to sand away the sharp lines on the car. I plan on placing tape over the edges, and save them till last.
But put on a little Led Zeppelin, Lynrd Skynrd, AC/DC, mixed with some James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Smokey Robinson, and of course Hank Junior, Johnny Cash and Alabama.....and the time goes by much easier. LOL!!

For the motor, I'm having the heads worked over pretty good. Unshrouding the chamber (was educated on this), putting 2.02 valves in, porting and polishing the pockets and appropriate areas. Matching both intake and exhaust manifolds. I know they will never be able to meet the performance of the aluminum heads of today, but I still want to keep the original heads, while attempting to make it appear original.
I would like to use some headers, but I won't. I'll keep the 2.5" center dumps that came with the car.
Again, I want to keep this one looking as original as possible. And that's tough for me to do!
Leaning towards a solid roller setup to attempt to take advantage of performance enhancements. Will be keeping the 11.25 to 1 compression. And use as many quality (American made), parts as much as possible.
My ball joints, bushings, and bearing all arrived this afternoon. I ordered MOOG parts thinking they would all be American made.
Damn.....even they are making parts out of the Country.
Bushings are made in Mexico, and Brazil!
Fortunately, the ball joints still show as made in the U.S.A.!

I couldn't help myself!
I took the leaf springs apart, cleaned them, and will complete the restoration on them.
I used the heavy zinc primer by Krylon.
I'll need to order the new rubber liners.

Now....waiting for my frame.
Finished up the leaf spring, as well as the coil springs. All my parts are in boxes.
I'm trying to be patient! LOL!
Also, I need to take out the radiator/body support. So I made additional supports for the body only.
Now I'll take out the radiator/body support, restore it, and prepare to put it back in place.

Took out the radiator support today. One part didn't look too good.
I've been trying to do more and more of my own welding, so I figured I would give it a shot.
Came out pretty good for a novice!
Now.....the headlight buckets are another story.
The wheel's on the motor's do nothing to move the lights. The seem to be stripped, as nothing moves while turning the wheels.
Pretty darn difficult to remove anything from them as it's still pretty tough to get to. I'm going to try to get a small socket up in there, and attempt to remove them from their shaft. That is, unless somebody has another suggestion.

I guess I'll be the first to say it but that's a really odd place to get a rust hole...can't say I've seen that before....
Can't help on the headlight buckets -- if the motors are out you shouldn't need the thumbwheel to move them....they should roll right up or down with the flick of a finger...

Not sure if you are talking about removing headlight motors. If so just remove the snap on clip and motor should slide right off headlight housing shaft, unless it is frozen to shaft.

The left side slid off just as you said. The right side took some assistance, but I was finally able to get it off.
Was able to remove all the headlight equipment with very little problems.
Motors look to be original. One is dated 08/62, and the other one is 10/62. Should be correct for a November 28, 1962 build date.
I'm sure I will need to rebuild the motors, and probably replace gears.
It sure looks like it would be a lot easier to put these back in place before the radiator support is back in.
