Damn....had to go back and paint all the hardware under the rear deck lid, as well as the heavy hinges that the deck lid is mounted to.

Still turned out good, I just wish I would have known this before I painted the underside last Saturday.

I still need to cut and buff it, but that being said, it's definitely still going to maintain the same gloss.

Looks soooo nice Pat! What adhesive did you use to attach the rubber weatherstrip around your deck lid?

Frankie, so what's correct in terms of carriage frame primer/paint? I see some folks using what appears to be flat black paint or black primer while others use the green chromate during restoration?

I used the 3M (black) weatherstrip adhesive. To assist with attempting to keep it clean, I ran a piece of tape all the way around the edge, just keeping about 3/8" revealed for the adhesive. Placed the product on both surfaces, let it set up and then put them together. Worked very good. Then just peeled off the tape. Definitely helped keeping the exposed surfaces clean and clear of excess product.

I was just thrilled that the gaps, and the level surfaces remained in place!

Yes that is great that everything stayed put! Thx for the info on the technique and adhesive Pat. I need to redo my hood and deck weather strips.

Well....here it is over a year later and I'm finally able to get back onto the '63!

The pictures provided are what I have been working on. It started out as a simple motor rebuild.....and long story short.....it progressed rapidly from there.

Then of course, I had to take the 427/435 motor out of the Nomad and replaced it with a 454 (as I'm looking to sell the Nomad).

Anyway, getting back to the '63 and will begin assembly on it soon!

Color Sanding the '63!

It was started with 800, then 1000, and next it was 1500. 2000, and 3000 coming up next!

I just love staring at that GMC Jimmy. It makes classic Broncos seem so commonplace in comparison, and I love old Broncos! Your work is top notch.

Pat,
Know you do not surprise me in the least. Keep the progress updates coming. I am hoping I can get back in the grind to do same on my 58. It is just so hot here in Texas. But I am nearly done with running chassis. You have always motivated me with your attention to detail!

Thanks for the kind words Bill!

It's been pretty darn hot here too! Supposed to be upwards of 100 again this weekend.

Pretty cool that you're just about done with the chassis. What kind of shape is the body in?

I completed major panel replacement (head light and below, RH quarter, entire rear lower panel, reconstructed both broken rear body mount areas and replaced RH door and trunk lid) about a year ago. Everything came from a 59 donor except 58 door and 58 trunk lid. Did all this work on my bare frame to get alignments and gaps right and then moved to a paint jig. Body has been sitting since and I moved to chassis. Should have my chassis 100% complete within next two weeks and going back to body. Plan is to shoot body with DP90, do all my finish work, DP90, high build prime, blocking...inca silver with black cove and signet red interior.

I don't want to distract from your build thread but wanted to answer your question. Thanks for being interested and I am doing my best to copy your "attention to details"! You are a tough act to follow. Bill
