Rhino - I posted twice previously (7/25/15 and 8/16/17) on this project with some additional pictures and info. Hope you find those useful. I am still surprised when I see some of the before and afters.

Excellent! I admire anyone who can transform an old car like that. I'd like to do it someday. Ive got my eye on a local '62 that is a rough driver.

C-1's & 2's cost about the same to restore. I estimate $30-35K in parts to do a complete body-off restoration but I do EVERYTHING myself except chrome plating and machine work on the engine block. The less you do, the more it will cost so that will need to be factored into the total.

CONGRATULATIONS- Car is beautiful. Thanks for sharing your experience. Most of us fully understand the trials and tribulations you went through to SAVE another Corvette. Sure you will enjoy it much more since YOU did it yourself. Maybe 2018 will be the year I will be done with my 5 year restoration on my 1966 so I can share my story and pictures also. Now go drive it.

"Every time I turn the key I get a smile on my face and feel good."

That is what it's all about. Nicely done!!

Yes, you could have bought one already done but would you ever really know the car like you do now?

Stunning car! Great colors. Outstanding workmanship. What I enjoyed the most was your attitude about the hobby and your expenditures.

Yes that's why I asked. I have about $25K into my 61.. I didn't take the body off.. and I haven't painted the exterior (still original paint). I did most of the work myself. Sent out the chrome and steering box as well. I was able to re-use more stuff than I thought by cleaning up/restoring.. Purchased old stock/refurbed items when possible.. I haven't purchased some of the "unobtainium" items like the jack, trunk carpet/panel, washer sprayer system, etc.. could probably spend $5K on those alone!

I agree. After 5 projects only one of which was a vette I still can't figure out what I want. I keep saying I won't do another project and then buy one anyway.
