Project Finally Completed
#22
Rhino - I posted twice previously (7/25/15 and 8/16/17) on this project with some additional pictures and info. Hope you find those useful. I am still surprised when I see some of the before and afters.

C-1's & 2's cost about the same to restore. I estimate $30-35K in parts to do a complete body-off restoration but I do EVERYTHING myself except chrome plating and machine work on the engine block. The less you do, the more it will cost so that will need to be factored into the total.

CONGRATULATIONS- Car is beautiful. Thanks for sharing your experience. Most of us fully understand the trials and tribulations you went through to SAVE another Corvette. Sure you will enjoy it much more since YOU did it yourself. Maybe 2018 will be the year I will be done with my 5 year restoration on my 1966 so I can share my story and pictures also. Now go drive it.

That is what it's all about. Nicely done!!
Yes, you could have bought one already done but would you ever really know the car like you do now?

Stunning car! Great colors. Outstanding workmanship. What I enjoyed the most was your attitude about the hobby and your expenditures.

As to the question: buy one already restored or buy a project, I chose the latter route. I understand I could have bought a very nice numbers matching car and saved $20k or so, but I am very happy with the route I chose. I didn't undertake this project to flip it or make some money. I wanted a challenge and the satisfaction of accomplishing something on my own. Every time I turn the key I get a smile on my face and feel good. We all have our own motivations for this hobby and I think they are all valid.
