We must not be reading the same thread and posts. I just reread every post in this thread, and find two things.

First, no one said ALL used car salesman are bad.

Secondly, the majority of posters in this thread agree with the overall sentiment based on personal experience. Some have even had a bad experience with dealers that are recommended by others.

In my opinion most new car salesman (not all, not the career brand specialists) are almost as bad. They know less that I do about the cars they are selling in most cases, and will/have lied to me about their product.

More so for used than new.

So - I think the best advice in the thread is to not believe anything any salesman tells you about a 50 year old car, and have it inspected independently!

New car salesmen are no better than used. Due to my real world experience with car dealers, not gypo used car lots, my in-laws wanted my help when looking for a new Acura. They found a car they liked and left the negotiating to me. This salesman asked "what will it take to put you in this car?". I said "let's start at dealer invoice and work from there". He said, with a straight face, " if we sell any car under MSRP, we'll lose our Acura franchise". We went to another Acura dealer and due to current promotions and spiffs (which I already knew about) they bought that very car for almost $1000 UNDER dealer invoice with no charge for the dealer trade.

There are good and bad people in ALL professions, car salesmen get a bad rap. I can tell you that I found the general public to be more dishonest regarding some of the crap they would try to pull with their trade-ins.

All I could find was a reference to Schenectady NY. And the "North Eastern Bowlers Association"

Can you elaborate? Especially about what the acronym stands for.
Thanks.

Not all are bad apples but there are more bad ones than good ones. Just like repair shops, and I'm in the repair business.

l'll help.. I lived about 10 minutes away from the "headquarters"
The "Neba nationals' was the moniker for a local car hangout that used to attract hot rods from all over on Friday and Saturday night from May until mid September.
It was in the parking lot of a take-out joint called "Mikes Subs and Neba Roast beef" on State St in Schenectady...active from probably the late 60's to the mid eighties when the business closed. It is now home to a florist shop.
Often, the "match" races would occur on a couple of local highways...including in the nearby town of Rotterdam, where KarKrafter got arrested
It was so cool, because the parking lot emptied when a match race happened as spectators would travel to the race location. I had a couple close calls as a spectator.. A mach 1 lost control and hit the guardrail during a race and came within a foot of sending me to hot rod heaven.. I felt the wind as he went by...
Great times, great memories
btw, Schenectady was the home of Shirley Muldowney... I'm sure she cruised State St during her younger days..

Thank you.

Tens of thousands of such places in the sixties. In Brooklyn and Queens, NY, we had at least 4 street racing spots that I can remember. Best spot was First and Third Avenue near Bush Terminal in South Brooklyn. Cars would meet at Mitchell's Drive-In and square-root the grudge matches. Cops would sometimes come and open the hydrants on Third, so the action would move to First. Cars lined up a good quarter mile to be staged!

And just about all of those tens of thousands of places had their own legend of the blonde with "If u can beat me u can eat me" on her ride. Maybe Shirley in Schenectady. Or Suzanne Somers.

Ah, the mammeries.........er memories.

I like ProTeam because they always have at least 25 numbers matching 67 L88's in stock.

In north Chicago it was Skip's Fiesta drive-in. They had speed bumps in the drive-in😈

Hey c2Jeff...Did you know you can still get a NEBA roast beef? Mr Subb bought NEBA/Mikes years ago and you can still get them there and they taste exactly the same! Had one about a month ago in Clifton Park...

BTW, I never got beat, except by the cops...

KarKrafter,
Yup, I have had them many times ...You're gonna laugh, but I live 3/4 of a mile away from a Mr Subb!
Suburban road, so it's a easy walk.

What car did you run back then? I remember 3 67-69 Shelby's, one red, one blue, one green, that used to travel as a pack...among other cars that are probably 6 figure cars today
You're not too far, you should consider doing one of the Guptils cruise-ins next summer

Oh yeah I remember the Shelbys, and the GEARJAMMER Nova, Lynn with that blue Monza and so many more...Remember the guys who came over from Pittsfield?

I was one of them, light yellow 64 GTO with a L-88, I got nailed runny Tony with a 69 Red 440 6 pak GTX.... circa 1979-ish, came as a spectator for years before that though...

That GTO is gone but I have the same mill in my 67 Malibu Been to guptils many times but didn't make it last year,

I remember some of you from Pittsfield...I think I remember your car... also, that blue Monza was a beast!
There was a blue '70 Monte Carlo that was owned by a guy named Ray who worked at Pfeiffers speed shop just down the street from Nebas...great looking and sounding car, but too heavy to really mix it up with the kings of the hill...

Have you sat in a C1 and a C2
Drive both of them, then tell us what you think?

Based on the comments here, will probably be keeping my search to a C2 with PS & PB.the one I was referring to at VintageCorvettes.com is $125,000, out of my price range. I don't know why dealers and some people don't list asking prices, seems like they are wasting your time and if it was reasonable priced, would be glad to tell you what they are asking. Ideally, I will find one with side pipes and a convertible. Since I already have a car with a black interior, would be nice to find one with a red or white interior.

For me the quick down and dirty answer would be 65, 66, 67.
