I think it all depends on what car it is. I would only trust a few to tell me paperwork and stamp pads are real for a B.B. car. But something like a nom SB car it would be something diffreant

I would go for an experienced NCRS judge, instead of just some guy who "knows old cars."
Also pick someone who can be trusted to work for you.

NCRS does not really allow the members use there NCRS club as a fall group for inspections and such. As they don’t want any legal fall back. But you can use the chapters as a tool to find local people to help

NCRS does not sanction pre-purchase inspections or inspectors. Guys that do pre-purchase inspections are doing it as independent contractors. But they are the guys that know these cars cold.

The NCRS has a National Team Leader for practically every year between 1953 and 1997. You could contact the team lead for whichever year you are looking for and they may possibly be able to provide some recommendations based on the part of the country the car is located in. At a minimum, they can tell you who the Chairman of the local NCRS chapter is in the area and you could contact them for a recommendation.
Or.... you could join the NCRS for $45 a year and get 6 issues of the NCRS Driveline magazine that has all this information within it. Some members even run ads there advertising the service for which you are seeking help with.
