Default JRS Transverse Spring

I just looked under my 66 roadster and took note of a transverse spring. It is labeled, JRS 21-807. It appears to be manufactured by the "John R Spring" Company. Anyone have information on this company or spring? I'm just beginning to learn more and more about the car.

It might be John R Spring which has a store in Troy, Michigan.

I don’t know anything about them, but my recently acquired 65 had his spring also, part # 21-307-219B.

I would sure like to find out more about the company. The set up on my 1966 l72 seems to replicate an F 41 suspension. Any thoughts?

Were you able to decode the series of numbers and the letter B?

No, I haven’t. No info at all on his web site or anywhere else. It appears it’s just another company that manufactures repro Parts. Whether or not it matches an F41 suspension you’ll just have to make the comparison, I’d say it probably does but I don’t know. Try calling them, I’m curious also.

I guess you’d have to compare spring rates. The std. 9 leaf is 196# and the f41 7 leaf is 330#.

Your spring has no arch left and the way it’s incorrectly mounted probably, I’d guess, makes the car ride like a buckboard. The spacers on the bolts were an attempt to keep the rear of the car from sagging with the flat spring.
I hope that’s on your job list to correct. I bought a JRS spring from CC and it was on my car for only a year before I replaced it. Never could get the ride height correct with it and the car would bottom out on dips in the road. When you buy a new spring, get it from Eaton. Dave

I know little about these rear springs and don't know what you're seeing. Can you explain your comment?

Default JRS Spring

I'll call the company tomorrow and try to find out a little bit more about their product and Corvette application. My car handles excellently (for what it's worth).

This is the way the spring should be attached to the trailing arm.

Looks like someone tried to preload the spring?

Default JRS Spring

Is the problem with the JRS spring itself or the installation/placement on the Corvette owned by warrenmj? My JRS spring is installed exactly as depicted in the scan posted by dkleather. Or, is the problem both with the JRS spring and its installation? Just trying to understand the "safety" concern, if any.

My car rides and corners just great and no issue upon acceleration or braking.

if its installed like the stock spring like shown by dkleather then your fine. the other picture I am not sure what to make of it. seams like the spring could not do its job

The pic I posted was from a previous thread and yes, the way it was installed made it ride like a wagon and there was a bad vibration at speed. It has since been installed correctly and no longer have a problem with it. Spring seems okay to me.
