Default I now own a 1963 Grand Sport Replica

A couple of months ago, by a vary random set of circumstances, I contacted Rick Costa about his 1963 Grand Sport #001 Replica after seeing it on the 1963 Grand Sport Facebook page. After taking a trip to California to personally inspect it, I pulled the trigger! We completed the paperwork on the transaction this week and now I just have to wait for Intercity Lines to transport her to her new home in Oklahoma!

Here are some of the key specs followed by my ride along video and photos. Enjoy!

- Built to GS #001, 1966 Sebring standards as raced Dr. Dick Guldstrand and Dick Thompson
- Full tubular frame as original with integrated roll bar
- L-88 NOS original 427/560 HP motor
- Muncie M-21 4 speed trans
- DANA 44 Positraction 3:73 ratio
- Special ZR-1 aluminum A-Arm suspension with coil over shocks
- Rack and Pinion Steering
- Aluminum radiator
- PS Engineering Halibrand pin-drive knock-offs, 8” front, 10” rear with GOODYEAR EAGLE GT-2 radials
- Stainless steel gas tank
- Custom fabricated cowl induction hood (as original)
- Original Grand Sport gauges type w/200mph speedometer
- Custom headers with side-mounted pipes

Yup, that sounds like an L88 all right. Properly earthshaking. I'd never get tired of that sound.

Beautiful and very impressive. Enjoy!

Someone here has that same replica, but a coupe; always draws a large crowd wherever it goes.

Beautiful car! Incredible sound. I never knew the originals were a tube chassis car.
Learn something new about these cars and their history every day.

Large diameter, thin wall tubes. Overall vehicle weight was in excess of 1000 lbs LESS that that of production Sting Rays.

That looks extremely well-done. Who built it, do you know? Did the body originate as a '63 or '64 Corvette, or did they start from scratch?

I especially like the autographs of 3 of the greatest Corvette race drivers ever; only one of whom is still with us.
