I know that, but sporty type car owners throughout history have usually had a little more hands on knowledge than a housewife for example. Guess not anymore.

I was glancing around for a choke
But so many push pull bottons nothing stood out. House helper is a little older than me. Thats why he had it figured out.

the average C6/C7 can only tell you what wax to use, nothing else.

If the choke pull is in the right place on the dash it should be between the steering column and the headlight switch, and there should be a "C" stamped in the round stainless face. This was the dash in mine.

By the way, using the choke makes them a lot easier to flood. Ours worked well without using it.

Probably also fairly knowledgeable on what "Just For Men" hair coloring to use and what joint supplements work best, as well.

If you look at the owners manual of a C1, it covers adjusting the carb, adjusting the valves, Clylinder head bolt torque and tightening sequence, how to adjust the points,How to gap spark plugs, how to adjust the optional fuel injection system, how to change front wheel bearings, adjusting the brakes.

The owners manual on a C7 mostly covers the Infotainment system and how to connect your blue tooth phone to the car, and call OnStar of you have a problem so theyc an diagnose it from error codes in the ECU.

I would ten times rather deal with what's covered in the '54 manual than all the electronic gizmo stuff cover in the new ones.

Guess that makes me old and grumpy, eh?

Our C7 had a separate manual for the infotainment system that was as thick as the owner's manual for the whole car. I got to page 10 and put it away.

Default flooding 54

You can ease or cure flooding after shutdown, need a very small hole on fuel pump ck. valve, eases pressure after engine cut off..
Back A few years, Son and I got A P.V first time out , and at Nationals A Duntov award on A friends 53 ,the owner was A DR. and not mechanically inclined, we had to train him on all phases of the P.V. test ,but got it. 66racer

did that on all carb engine corvettes till they went to spun together fuel pumps. .015 hole drilled in the valve plate of the fuel pump to allow the pressure between the fuel pump and the carb to bleed back into the tank side. later corvettes has this type of return from the factory.

What is a "spun together" fuel pump?

Did you do this on your '53 Chevy with the split manifold?

did not have to do this on cars when the fuel tank was lower than the carbs. if the fuel pump does not have screws it is spun together

I'm a little younger than you, Mike, but I feel exactly the same way. But I'm probably just as grumpy. On the way to work yesterday traffic was hung up because a 5 year old and his 7 year old brother were standing on a traffic island and on their smart phones....looking into their hands while we waited for them to step off into traffic, which they ended up not doing. They were too hung up on their phones and had stopped their walk to school. What 5 and 7 year olds need a smart phone? Glad I had toy cars and was able to build forts and go-carts out of scrap when I was a kid. My take on a lot of newer old car buyers is that they have the means to buy what visually appeals to them, but how to operate or care for the vehicle is completely out of the question. Eswpecially if the car is mainly just 'acquired to be admired.'
