Default Ignition wiring

I have a 1960 corvette. Always started And ran great. After storage this winter had to replace positive battery cable and started drove home parked. A week later went to start battery dead. Charged battery, would not start, ignition coil fried. Changed coil, started ok but would not turn off when key turned off. Had to disconnect battery cable the shut off. Now notice always power to gas gauge as soon as I hook up battery even with key off.

Hate to say it, buy you probably have two wires melted together in the loom to the coil. It is probably from the firewall to the coil, although it could be from the starter to the coil.
Very common for the old Chevys.
