Default 1961 Corvette Fuel Injected at Mercum

I had posted earlier this year about a friend that passed way too young and had 3 Corvettes to sell. His wife and one of my buddies took his 1961 Fuel Injected car to Mercum in Arizona this week.

It sold for $125,000 dollars. It was a very near perfect example but wow. $125,000 for a 1961.

I am surprised.

Good for her, his cars were his retirement plan and this certainly helps her.

Too bad so much goes away on the commissions.

I tried 3 times to flip the auction photo over. I guess I don't have that skill set. I got it correct in my saved files but it comes in upside down each time.

Your picture might be upside down but I hope your friends widow is not as a result of your efforts on her behalf. Well done - that's a good friend.

i hope the others sell for a bazillion dollars.

10% is the sellers fee. Barrett-Jackson provided the venue that brings the buyers. There isn't a chance it would have sold for within 10% of that any other way.

Interesting to know. I have a Jewel Blue 61 that has been under restoration for the last quarter of my life, and I'm hoping to do the same thing.

Either way, great job and kudos to you friend!

I pull the pic into Microsoft "Paint" (free on Windows boxes); hit the resize button and go to 40% and save the pic and that usually does it...

The forum doesn't like super large smartphone pics..

That's "all the money" for that nice car...my 61 dual quad, 270hp car sat months before it sold two summers back for $65K...and I felt fortunate to get that at the time.

Prices are crazy right now. This 1960 sold for $165K at Mecum last week in Florida. A friend was interested so I went over the car with a fine tooth comb. Not only was it a base engine car made to look like a 270 HP, there was at least a dozen other things wrong with it.

It may not be correct but that is a pretty car. $165 is very steep.

Yes it was in Gold River. A friend donated garage space for a while prior to the Auction.
