Default '64' Broken Tach needle

How difficult is it to replace the tach needle? The hub is still on. I had Roger Scott replace the gears on the speedo for the odometer and tripometer. Must have cracked the needle while cleaning or reassembling the cluster. Went for a cruise yesterday, and on my way home I literally watched the needle hang and then drop to the bottom of the tach. Now I have to tear it all apart again. I don't want to do any damage to the mechanism as the tach works fine, but don't want to spend another $200 either.
Any advice?
Thanks,
Ray

Hopefully, the needle came loose and it just needs to be reinstalled. But, I would recommend examining the stem on the speed cup very carefully. The tip of the stem has been known to break off in the needle - don't ask how I know. Corvette Specialties was able to fix my speedo needle but they had to send it to a jeweler to have it drilled out.

The hub is stil on the shaft. The needle broke from the hub. So there shouldn't be any issues. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to do any damage to the guts or throw the balance out of wack.
thanks

Mine did that too. The needle on the tach just flew off when it was rev'd. The mystery is where the needle went. The metal hub is still attached to the stem, but the needle has gone somewhere that is not visible.
