This was connected to the hood release/parking brake mount. Nothing was connected to it.

...doesn't look OE, but might be a solenoid. Are the two studs copper? Check resistance across them, and consider applying 12V both ways and see if the "plunger" on the back side pops out.

It's not clear to me where it was mounted. C1 or C2? Post a photo of how it was mounted. That might give a clue of its function.

Possible switch for park brake warning light? Frankie would know, if it's an original piece to the car.

It's installed on a C-1. I have no idea what it is but it's not an original part of the car.

My guess is that there was some type of arm attached to the rod with flats sticking out of the backside. Some type of linkage would be attached to that arm, which would move back and forth to turn something off and on. I vaguely remember seeing something like this (with an arm attached) being used on a car as a backup light switch on the transmission.
Obviously not the intended application in your case, nor is it a Corvette part.

Put an ohmmeter across the contacts and rotate that rod on the back to see if it is a switch.

It looks EXACTLY like the FACTORY brake light switch (mounted under the floor) on my 51 Chevy (with the engagement arm missing/broken off). The 49-54 pass cars had the brake /clutch pedals going through the floorboard. The missing lever from that switch engaged the brake pedal arm BELOW the floor.
