Actually my son's dog, also a rescue, but we watch her quite often and she hangs with me in the garage or whatever else we're doing.

Great expression on Charlie's face He looks to be older than our Pug who is just 2 YO?

We're searching for a black Pug now which will make it 4 dogs - 2 Pugs and 2 rescue dogs, a Collie & a Rotty

Default My boy, Andy

My buddy started life as a bomb dog. He now is living the dream and just laying his own "bombs"

Nice to see dogs taking rides in Corvettes.
Wish I could take my buddy, Indie, with me on rides.
How do you keep them from jumping out or getting nervous from the side pipes.

You can get a harness that the seat belt passes through--there are a couple of different designs out there. If the pipes really bother him, maybe taking him along isn't a great idea, though.

I made the short leader and bolted it under the passenger seat belt anchor in my 67. Duke's harness clipped into the leader. The side pipes didn't seem to bother him.

I don’t think my dog would jump out UNLESS she saw a squirrel. Then all bets are off. So I made a shorty leash that’s long enough for her to be able to hang her head out of the car but short enough so she can’t get out. Use a harness not a collar.

For the side pipes, it’s a matter of slow training. Start off just sitting in the car with Indie inside the garage with the engine off. After doing that a few times, move car outside and sit in the car some more with the engine off. Eventually, try starting the car but just let it run for a few seconds. Keep doing that until Indie seems comfortable and the try a ver short trip down the he street and back.

Give lots of treats throughout the whole process. That’s the most important part of the whole thing.

If if none of that works, your vet can give you some calming pills to give Indie until he/she gets used to the car.

Good luck.

Thanks for the ideas for taking your dog for a ride in the vet.
Don't know why it never occurred to me to get a harness.
Probably because he just rides in the back of the Jeep everywhere I go without a leash.

My other dog Eva (shelter dog, part retriever/part German Shepard) would realize that the loud noise is coming from the chrome tip of my side exhaust and would immediately jump out and bite it. That dog is fearless. And a bit of a biter. And not too terribly smart. But still perfect

Here is Ronin, our needy Rhodesian Ridgeback guarding the living room:

At a little over 100 lbs, he doesn’t get to ride in the Vette but is our incredibly spoiled running buddy.

He gets excited when he hears the ‘66 coming down the street...
