Try finding a '63 fuelie running, driving car with the matching block and clearly a huge part of the restoration already done for $60K! Oh, I forgot.......it's TV!

They referenced numbers matching time and again, but my take away was matching date only. The Vin on the pad was illegible.

This was covered a bit in the Counting Cars thread last night.
The whole episode was a fantasy.

I saw the show last night. Their shop has to be somewhere here in Tampa. I see background shots of Ybor City. The girls use the same speed shop that I use. Anyway, it was a good episode. Was that the same Rick Hendricks that has the large corvette collection? Jerry

That's right. It was Rick Hendrix and NOT Rick Hendrick. If you looked real close, they had a strip of duct tape over the VIN portion of the stamp. Could just be so that people can't see the VIN of which if I was the owner I wouldn't want that either.
Other than the engine and paint, the only restoration they showed was the shift console which was supposedly MIA, so they found another one.

The remark about the shift console by the one gal seemed to imply it was one of the new reproductions -- pricey and a bit lame... When they drove the car after purchase there were no door panels in it so I'm assuming they redid the interior too...
So $60K for the car, $15K for the F/I unit, say $5K for the interior, $12K for the paint job, some missing odds and ends (RR bumper, F/I fender emblems, etc)....
So call it $100K on the table without the girls' labor. And a $175K sale....that'd be an outstanding 'flip' if so. I just don't know if I believe it...

I saw it too, and if real, they got a screaming deal on the car for 60k. It was solid, and already had a lot of work done. The dash was very nice, all the trim was there, along with no rust issues. Plus the correct block (with duct tape over the VIN) but the pad looked legit. I almost never watch this show, but I liked it.....no drama and just working on cars. What a concept!

I flipped on a show right as it was going off. I looked ahead and recorded it. Don't expect much so it will be hard to be disappointed. I have a friend looking for a top flight SWC, numbers, FI, the whole nine yards.

Well there's a reason I had never seen the show before this episode, a it's the reason I'll never see another episode.

Semi entertaining show that’s short on believable repair/restorations. It no way represents our real life vehicle experiences of purchasing, restoration, pricing and the selling process of the real world. Where’s Ed China when you need him???
