Default Firewall hole?

Is there a reason there is a hole in the firewall here?

Our '65 has two holes in that vicinity the large hole is for the firewall insulation rubber fastener and the smaller one is for battery cable clip. This is a BB so it has a left side battery.

I just looked at my unrestored '64 coupe and I do not have a hole there.

There is a hole there for the firewall plug as shown in no. 4 post. It's hard to tell from your picture if that is the hole you are looking at.

Is there a similar hole directly above it? Those holes as mentioned are for the rubber plugs that hold the insulation against the firewall (on the interior) and protrude thru these holes. Here's what the plugs look like. Bill

Yup, bubba has been working in there and chewed it out large enough for a mouse to live in your interior during cold weather.

You're gonna need a little fiberglass repair there to close that up and re-drill to the correct size for the rubber plug.

Should be an easy fix. I had one car that caught fire right there at the lower plug hole location. Beats me how.

OT---BTW, are those Grand National wheels in the pic?
