Should have mentioned I'll be in my motor home pulling my pickup so no Vette.

Lived in El Cajon 45 years ago and have been thru it a few times since, what a change.

Looking for some car activities besides playing some golf while I'm there.

I attended a Navy school there for four months in 1985. I bought a '69 Buick Skylark convertible from the Auto Trader for $1800. It was my "Ensign mobile". Here it is at the beach on Coronado:

That brings back memories of my first car in 1973; 1969 Buick GS, convertible, 400 Ram Air, 4-SP, PS,PB,AC,PW Brown w/ white interior, bucket seat w/ console. Bought this car for $300 with a rod knocking.

I look back on that and say holly crap that car was 4 years old but this was during the gas crunch when everyone was dumping the high HP cars.

BTW in 1985 I was at NAS Miramar, bought a 1967 Impala SS, 327 4sp for $1500

Went on vacation from NJ to San Diego in the 80's friends wife was stationed at NAS Miramar. Old cars everywhere bought 2-57 Chevy's from one family and on my last trip in 89 I bought my 63. Best time of my life!
This pic is the day I got it.

That GS sounds nice; I think there was something about the Buick oiling system that made the bearings more susceptible to oil starvation.

The SS sounds nice too. It was cool what you could get in San Diego (rust free of course) around then. I also recall the junkyards down by San Ysidro which were great for parts.

I did get out to the club at Miramar once or twice. It was a target rich environment.
