Being a newbie here, I wonder if you guys can help me with my car. I seem to have a problem, as my car was stalling when hot and gas was bubbling out of the distributor. It also seemed to miss a lot after installed the Pertronix ignition and replaced the 30-30 cam with one from a 250 HP 327 my dad left in the creek. To make matters worse, when I mixed the 110 racing fuel with a quart of ethanol, all my hoses just melted...I've read Dukes' article on zinc and ZZ Top, so I immediately switched to canola oil, to no avail, but I maybe can fry potatoes in my oil pan.
I'm really frustrated. If this wasn't one of Mickey Thompson's documented original fuelies with power steering, I would have trashed the whole engine and put in an LS9 by now.

gas bubbling out of the distributor? That means you got gas in the oil. I would not run it since you probably washed the cylinders... Not good! Did you run it? If so, the damage is probably already done.
Put the original cam back in, reinstall the points, put bias play tires on each corner and put some leaded gas in it; if that doesn't make it run right then slaughter a goat in the driver's seat and lay its entrails on the dash pad -- that should do it...
If not, it has to be Russian meddling there is no other explanation...
Looks like it is time for that LS9 V2.0, here's why. First off I think where you went wrong is using that camshaft from the creek. You should have bought a brand new McCreek special that Duke often refers to. That cam mimics the 427 250 horse with loads of weed pulling torque. I have experience to back this up since I'm living in Colorado. Also, change your ratio of 110 gas to ethanol fuel mix to 10:1 and not 1:10 and your rubber(s) and virgin oil will last longer, also use garden hose next time. I would not worry about the gas coming up from the distributor if you think you can control the fire, eventually it will burn off and you will be good to go, maybe even to the bank. Are you sure about the originality of the Mickey Thompson documentation? Those engine bench marks look OK but that stamp is clearly phony bologna as there should an U after the F. I would ditch the Pertronix and insert the old points, use an emory file on them occasionally and you will be fine.

All of the original Thompson fuelies had the Frigidaire label on the AC compressor mounted backwards and the compressor itself was mounted on the opposite side of the engine bay.
If you have the real thing I would have expected a photo of these common identifiers.
