Manually raise the driver seat on a C2 Coupe for my wife.
Hello,
This is a similar question to my last about raising the driver seat for my wife. Found out they do not make a C2 power driver seat. I like the idea of a thick cushion, that will work for sure.
One last question for our C2 Corvette owners before I drop the subject for ever.
Do they make the old fashioned ( manually-- hand pump, up and down) for the driver seat tracks for a C2 Corvette? I know GM made many of these manually up and down seat tracks for other GM models, I do not have the background knowledge to find what I want on-line about this subject. Thanks

Bear in mind with a stock wheel if she raises the seat, the steering wheel will press on her legs. A thick cushion at the rear of the seat bottom would work best and be the cheapest. Then if you drive, you just move the cushion.

Many here are likely not aware that modifications like this violate Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS.)
I used to manage a special vehicle company that among building anything ODD on wheels we did handicapped vehicle conversions and this came up often. The only thing we sold for this purpose was a FMVSS approved six way seat base made by the Braun Corp.
If you modify, or replace your seat base from factory and have an accident, a sharp insurance investigator will spot it and void your claim unless the seat base is FMVSS approved.

It can be a slippery slope. Depending on if the seat base assembly is FMVSS approved on it own or if it is approved as part of the seat as well. The sad part is if you run into someone else, kill them and are sued you can bet an attorney will figure it out.

To the OP, are you aware that at the bottom of the seat backs there are two nylon washers for lack of a better word that have long screws on them that you can adjust. You can screw them "out" to make the seat back angle forward. When you want to drive the car you will likely have to screw them back in. I went through this many years ago with my 5' tall 98 lbs ex wife I think she also had to use a pillow.
How tall is your wife?

My wife is 5' tall. I made a pattern of the shape of the seat bottom and back with a fold in the cardboard. Marked it where I wanted three separate 1 1/2" elastic straps and had a shop make a 2" firm pad that folded where the back meets the seat bottom. One strap was in from the front of the seat about 4", one at the fold, and one about 5" down from the top of the seat back. Works great. Black vinyl for $140.
Now she can depress the clutch and see over the dash. When not in use I fold it in half and stuff it in the back.
