Default What's this FI distributor worth ?

1110914 FI distributor, reconditioned, perfect, w/cap and tach drive plug.

Was used from 58-61 according to Jerry Bramlett's website.

I don't find any for sale online.

Please let me know what you estimate a fair price is for it.

Thanks-

This is a tough question to answer because the market is so limited. It sounds like you have a very nice distributor. Since not many people need one at any given point, you might have to sit on it for a while. But the conventional wisdom would be that your distributor should be worth about $3000. Not many buyers, but none available if you happen to need one.

The most I've ever gotten for a properly restored 914 with a no-R, dual-window cap and Blue Streak points was $1,300. For unrestored but complete 914s with good gears and generic dual-window caps, I have been charging less than a thousand.

Jerry,
I'm so glad that you chimed in here on this! I have been hesitant until now.
I am in total, 100% agreement with Jerry. The 914 FI dist is a sorta, kinda run of the mill FI dist and was probably one of the more common dist. As Jerry mentioned, it was used for several years, and in my book, it is NOT a highly desirable dist for street driving, IF, IF, IF a tach drive is needed. The MOST compatible FI distributors for a street driven car are those that have a vac adv, and the 914 does not. Early hyd lifter FI engines had a vac adv, but DID NOT have a tach drive. A tach drive FI dist WITH vac adv finally was used on 63-65 FI engines, and in my book, those are the BEST dist for a street engine.
Now, with all that said, the 914 dist is certainly a good dist, but they are among the more common ones and because of NO vac adv, they do not command a high price. I think $800-1200 is an acceptable range.

I sold one about eight years ago -- $950 as I recall.

I think I may be in the minority here but after watching complete fi units sell for $25-3500, and the trend to restomods, it might be harder then you think to get the old prices. I have been watching prices for long time and unless someone really wants a ncrs or original car most guys are not willing to spend the money.

I was at the World of Wheels this weekend and very few people even knew you could even still run the fi unit on the street today. I was even asked if my car modified....

....and for the most part, with the crappy ethanol gas, and the heat in traffic in the summer, you can't...

Some of us have been able to get them dialed in pretty darn good.
I DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT use ethanol containing gas!!!!!!
I cannot speak for the rest of the country, but here in Okla NON-ethanol gas is readily available. I use 91 NON-ethanol in the 56 with a SB400 and modified early FI unit. When it's needed, it will run like a scalded dog!

My 62 always ran fine on “summer gas”. If I had “winter gas in the tank and it turned hot, it ran like crap until I got that gas out of the tank.

Where are FI units going that cheaply? Whenever I see them, they are nine or ten grand. I would love to convert my '57 to FI- just because it's SO cool.

The same units have been on eBay for years... asking and selling are way different.
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...tion-unit.html

First this just my opinion and observations, I don't want get in a argument over price and fuel type again. I was just saying if you want to really sell it I don't think you are going to get as much as you think.

Yes, I run race gas. And can get 93 ethanol free gas here too. But the questions were- is it factory, how does it run, or how much trouble is it. What is it? And of course they never came that way...

Back to the op question... if you want to sell it. Post it and see what happens.
