Your area was probably OK, I have been there in the past.

West Roxbury is right next to Needham, where I grew up. Nicer than Roxbury.

First few year I my '62 was a dd and from 1972-1974 drove it year round. For the winter I put on studded snow tires, Actually wasn't too bad in the snow with posi. I replaced the frame about 10 years ago due to rust out..

Winter Driving , what's that?
They were just cars...put snow tires on them...skis in the idle of the seats...well, unless there was a girl......

I agree 100% moving parts are better than engine parts standing still in the garage rusting away while the snow is on the ground. I also drive my C2 Corvette during the cold winter months. But like you, the roads must be free of snow and salt and very dry. Hard to keep a car parked in the garage for six months. Best to drive the car all year round if you can.

Doug, we actually got it worse on the Upper Cape nearest the bridge. Several houses on the ocean were destroyed. I had a 96 mph gust here. Many large trees down around my house. Luckily they missed the house. I've been on generator a lot over the last 2 weeks.

I’m on cape cod with mine now and had it out one day last weekend. But road salt is so corrosive, I got some salt spray on my new frame off on its first drive and I’m regretting that day for the mess and instant surface rust it brought.

We look back and think inclement weather driving was such a harrowing deal in an old car back then.
In reality it was just “life”.

Growing up in Wisconsin in the 60, we drove on snow packed roads all winter, never seen pavement between December and April. The wheel wells were always packed with ice and frozen snow. No local car washes, so the salt and dirt remained on the car for months. I have lost some great cars to total rust out in just a few years. One of my dads cars, 69 Impala, bent to the ground, behind the front doors, while crossing a RR track. The frame was completely gone.

Nice, looks like Fort Hill in Eastham. I'm driving in about 5 minutes. Roads are beautiful towards Falmouth.

Intermediate
Drove my '59 in college from '69 to '73 from Connecticut to upstate New York summer/winter and never thought anything about it. Several paint jobs and motors latter still driving it all year.
