Default Gas Lid Emblem

Does one of the parts places sell just the plexiglass on a 65 gas lid emblem? My plexiglass looks terrible but I want to keep my flag part of the emblem.

Question 2, where does the heater control panel bulb/socket mount? I think I know but not sure and it's the last dash wire to figure out.

Thanks,
Dex.

There is no "Plexiglas" on the 65 gas lid. Are you thinking that there's a lens over the emblem in the 65 gas lid?

The 65 gas lid emblem is a one piece plastic insert. The crossed flags, the black circle, the white back ground and the silver circular pattern outside of the black circle, are all molded together as part of the plastic insert. The inserts are available separate from the die cast gas door assembly for about $45, and it's available from all of the Corvette parts vendors. To replace the insert, you need to drill out the rivets on the back side of the gas lid, and epoxy or find some other means of reassembling the door.

This is the insert, and the assembled door.

I'm sorry but I can't really help you with your bulb/socket mount question, as I'm not sure what you're referring to as the heater control panel.

Lid emblem: Someone mentioned using 2-56 button head stainless screws after drilling out the rivets. I think it's the same deal when replacing the glovebox door insert. I just used a couple to reattach my ashtray door ****. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Du-Bro-360-...IAAOSwUuFWxWwi and https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-56-x-1-8-...wAAOSwNyFWexWB Not sure on the length though.

Yep, I've seen those gas lid emblems for sale. I was hoping the clear part of the plastic (didn't know what it was made out of) was a separate piece from the black and white sections. I haven't really examined it....my daughter just came up to me and asked if I could replace the clear part. I'm building the car for her so while I was making a purchase, I figured I'd change it too.

Thanks for the info, as always!!!
Dex.

Don't know if it will work on the plastic on the gas cap, but I take clear coat rubbing compound to the polycarbonate bug shield I made and it will remove the scratches as long as they are not real deep. If using a buffer, don't overheat the plastic.
Also used tooth paste on plastic headlights on late model cars as well as the stuff they sell for the job.
Sounds like your daughter has the desire, hand her the equipment and tell go girl go. Shel will appreciate the car more if she has put in some labor.

Hey, it's worth a shot for sure. Thanks! And I like the idea of her doing it, when I can keep her home long enough to do it.

Thanks,
Dex.

Maybe she can con her boyfriend into doing it!!
Gives you a chance to find out if he is a viable candidate.

Geez, he's offered before and I've managed to keep him away.

I carefully drilled off the rivet heads on my 64 lid, had it chromed and then epoxied the new emblem in. No problems so far.
