they are just a used car dealer like the ones you have in your home town. the only difference is the price point of the cars. treat them as you would the one in your home town

It is a specialized used car dealer. They will only tell you what you want to hear. You need to have an experienced C-2 person survey any car at any dealer. Do a search for "Mershon's" and read the comments. Dennis

Can't help much except to say I did talk to them about one of their cars but never made a deal because of price. Buying used car is like that Forest Gump movie when he said "it's like a box of chocolates you never know what you are gonna get".

They are automobile dealers. They know the value of Corvettes and charge that plus what it takes to pay the overhead and make a profit, like all dealers. The get Corvettes in various conditions and price ranges. They can afford to sit on one until they get their price. The prices are pretty high on their nice cars. I have a couple of friends who have bought from them and are satisfied, but you still have to do your due diligence just like you were buying from an individual. I don't think they are dishonest at all, unlike some of the other Corvette shops, but they need to sell cars to stay in business and that involves sugar coating conditions. According to my friends they do what they say they will do, but you still have to sign the "as is" sheet when you buy the car. So bottom line, look for yourself and ask direct questions.
I tried to buy a couple of cars from them over the years and could not come close. I find that buying from an individual who presumably knows his car and either needs to sell or has found something he wants more is the best buy for a Corvette. At least in North Carolina, if you buy from a dealer you pay sales tax on the full amount (they call it road use tax here), but if you buy from an individual you pay the tax on a book value in the computer. For example; $223 from individual vs $1500 from a dealer on a 65.

I have been there twice looking at their midyears, several years ago now. They were friendly and allowed me to look around w/o any problems. I know of three who have bought a midyear there and for the most part were satisfied. Nevertheless, if you are not knowledgeable about these cars, hire an expert to do an inspection before you buy.

Like most classic car dealers if you walk in there, knowing nothing, they'll shear you like a sheep (and they should). Do some homework, know your way around the cars and their values, and you can walk away with a decent deal - prob not a 'barnburner' deal, but a decent one...
Now - I have been to a few dealers in Sarasota where the ENTIRE inventory was full of abject POS cobbled together junk. There was NO deal I would make on any of their crap.

Is there a particular car in their inventory you are looking at? If by chance it's the original paint, white '60 with red interior, I can tell you that they bought it for $36,500 and are asking $49,500. Sure, they need to make a profit, so that's understood. The pics they have on the car are for the most part the same photos that the Craigslist seller sent me at my request, so i don't know if Mershon's did anything to the car other than clean it up. This should at minimum demonstrate the level of mark-up dealers assign to their cars. In all fairness, their eBay post does say "or best offer". Timing didn't work for me to buy it from the CL seller, so I contacted Merson's and offered to buy it untouched directly off the trailer. They wanted a $9,000 profit to let me have it "as is". Needless to say I passed.

I have both bought and sold a car with them. I have done many pre purchase inspections there in the past. They have always been easy to work with. They allow me a lift to get a good look at the underside. Then leave me alone. Unlike a couple other dealers they have never tried to sway my opinion on the inspections. But as always and mentioned here previously no matter who the seller is the buyer must know what they are looking at or have someone who does check out the car. This goes for a private seller,Mershons or any other dealer.

I was looking at a blue 65 convertible on line, supposedly matching numbers. They sent me pictures of the vin tag, trim tag & engine stamp, & also said there were no rust problems, but pictures rarely tell the whole story. I'm in SC, so it's hard for me to reach out & touch the car. I would have to find someone in that area of Ohio to evaluate it for me.

many years ago at Corvettes at Carlisle I watched a few high profile dealers with trailer loads of top dollar cars that each one would not start on there own

, he did my inspection and I'm very, very satisfied. The plus side is that you can always pm, email or call him if you have a question and he will always respond. A nice easy going guy to boot, none better.

I called this dealer on a BB conv. I talked to the owner's son. He was very friendly on the phone but wouldn't offer any info unless I asked. He would "answer" my questions if asked. They seemed like most car dealers, "don't ask then don't tell". I didn't expect anything different. I knew the right questions to ask and after 10 minutes, I knew to pass on the car. As said above, "let the buyer beware" AND get an inspection!!!
