Default Keep or Sell? 4 Vettes Just Used for Errands

I have four convertibles; a '60, a '66, a '74 (all modded), and an unmodded '16. Problem is, being retired I use all just for errands. For long trips I'll take the Harley. All paid for, and if sold, would never get back the cost of the mods. But are all these cars worth keeping just for errands? Of course the decision's up to me, but what do you drivers think?

That would be a hard call for me. Gold Canyon is a ways out so errands could be 80 miles round trip. I saw a modded 74 Vert in Gold Canyon that was for sale on Craigs a while back, was that maybe yours? Blue vert if I remember correctly. There's also a "Victory Red" 66 for sale on Craigs in East Mesa currently. If that one is yours, I'd keep it!

I'd say you have a pretty small collection. My advice is to buy more.

If the '60 & '66 are tastefully modded, I would keep them. These represent the most desirable of the Vettes. Dennis

Depending on condition two of the vettes are defintely appreciating in value, one is prob flat to slightly appreciating and the last one is depreciating.... Guess which two I would keep....

Do any of the cars still thrill you?

If so, keep that one.

Pictures please on the older cars. Thanks.
I have the same issue (not as severe, only 3 cars). The cars take turns doing errands and going to the gym and dinner.
Of course, it's snowing here 6 months of the year so none get to go anywhere during that time.

The mods are: 1960: Vintage Air, 79-82 clamshell seats, 3-point seatbelts, 350/290 GM crate motor, Muncie 4-speed, upgraded front suspension, PS, modern radio, Willwood discs on all four wheels, and a DeWitt radiator with fan.

1966: Vintage Air, Miata seats, modern radio with an amp and 6x9 rear speaker boxes, 3-point seatbelts, PS, PB, sidepipes, Cragar-like wheels by American Racing, and a DeWitt radiator with 2 fans.

1974: Original a/c upgraded with Vintage Air, clamshell seats, modern radio with an amp and 6x9 rear speaker boxes, and '69-style sidepipes.

Hope this helps in understanding my "dilemma".

Keep them all Mike ... and drive a different one each day. What are you gonna do with a pile of cash anyway? I've heard they won't bury it with you. So enjoy the fruits of your labor! My $0.02 worth. Bill

My errands are more 10 miles each way. My '74 is bright red, and I've put about $170K into it, have no records, but anyone looking it over could see everything's new. It's for sale.

Thanks Bill. I think a guy in Pennsylvania WAS buried in his C4 a few years ago...had to buy at least 4 plots. But I do have to drive a different each one each day in rotation or they get jealous.

I wish I could provide pictures here, but as you may know, it's just not as easy as attaching pictures to regular emails.

if they give you joy, even to just go out and look at them, keep 'em.
If they're dragging you down and are a PITA, dump 'em. Simple.

Ya but the kids these days are not likely to let that happen ... at least not in my world. They will sell my chit within 3 days of my passing ... with my wife's blessing! I have an 08 Caddy XLR-V I keep thinking I should move on to someone else to play with, but I just think about it long enough till I take it out for a scoot and that supercharged smile comes back on my face!

Find more errands to run!

Buy stuff you don’t need one day, and return it the next.

Buy beer by the 6 pack instead of the case, or by the quart bottle instead of the 6 pack.

Buy toilet paper by the single roll.

Buy your oil one quart at time.

There are lots of reasons to run errands! Heck, every time I fix something around the house it takes at least 3 trips to the hardware store!
