Where is Spring

Got into the high 40's here today with lots of sun & no precipitation.
Not exactly Spring but I'm tired of waiting for the 60's that we should have.
Uncovered 2 Z06's, disconnected battery tenders, and out they went. Only had time to take the '16 around the block (she hadn't moved since before Christmas) but the '07 took a nice 25 mile romp after being inactive since early Feb.
I'm optimistic that I can get the '62 out within the next week and the '64 has to vacate it's storage bay before May 1st.
i sure hope that real spring weather is soon to be upon us here in the northeast.

You need to move to Florida. My wife and I took our cars to a show today. Gorgeous weather, upper 70’s and low 80’s. There were about 50 cars and a nice variety. Free entry, free food and drinks, three $50 drawings, and $100 best of show.

For the 7 (very long) years we lived in MN, we discovered some really strange things associated with temps down in that range. If you take a glass of hot water outside and throw it up in the air, it will vaporize a blow away in a cloud before it can hit the ground.
If you take a jar of soap bubbles (you know, the kind that kids play with to blow bubbles) out in those temps and blow bubbles, the bubbles don't burst as easily. You can touch them and they feel pliable, kind of like Saran Wrap. If it's cold enough, and depending on the soap to water ratio, the bubbles will get hard and shatter like crystal.
This never happened to me and I never personally saw it happen but I was told that at temperatures like Todd is talking about the metal in garage doors and tracks can contract to the point that the door comes off the track and falls. That may be an urban legend but I'm not going back up there to test it out. Maybe Todd has a comment on that one.
What did happen to us was the sliding side door of our van would not open in those extreme temperatures because of metal contraction.
MN is a gorgeous state to visit in the summer but it's not a place you want to go in the winter.
Steve.

It's a lot easier now that cars are so much better. How we survived the old days with crappy cars that would break down or just not start I'll never know. And no cell phone to call for help. Good thing people used to stop to check on you or I would have frozen a few times.
But summer here on the lake is paradise to me. I'm hoping I can be a snowbird someday soon...

She's not here in the Mid-Atlantic area. Howling wind and low temps make it feel at or below 0*. Thats cold! Dennis

-76 with the wind chill last Wednesday in Ely, Minnesota which is on the Iron Range. I had -36, straight temp, driving to Winona, Minnesota that day, which is in the southern third of the State. You haven't lived until you have seen soap bubbles burst like glass at that temperature. Not a great place to own a diesel anything without blended fuel. At that temp, any body part exposed for a couple of minutes is toast. 20 degrees today. I went out walking the dog wearing a sweatshirt....
