Default 66 Nassau Blue paint samples

Does anyone have a preferred paint mfg and code for correct (exact) Nassau Blue for my 66 project, presently incorrect silver pearl. My paint shop wants to mix the paint, so I Need to purchase a small quantity and paint a base coat area on the car for him to match. Anyone have a better method outing a good match please advise. I'm ok with him doing his own mix as long as we have a good color model to go by. Thanks

I can get the PPG code I just used
We mixed and shot 4 different shades tinting it and that color SHIFTS a ton
Blue, to Purple.....
I matched it very very nice on a dash I am doing.

For what this is worth:

If 'csherman' sends you the formula to the four different shades of the Nassau Blue that he mixed up. I am sure he will.

You are aware that like he wrote. The color 'shifts' a lot. And when colors have this type of property to them...who ever is mixing the color needs to be really careful that they mix it exactly. Simply because if you were mixing up 4 ounces of paint....and added an extra drop of this or that toner...it CAN throw of the color due to you are mixing up such a small amount. And some toners that are used in paint are really strong in pigmentation. Now...if you were mixing up 5 gallons of paint...and an extra drop or two would not effect the color that much...if at all.

So the formulas he sends you ...you might want to mix all of them and compare them.

You can call PPG at 1-800-647-6050 and get to the color library and ask them for the formula for the Nassau Blue that should be in their archives also.

Whatever you do, mix up WAAAAY more than you need in case there is an issue down the road...super tough color to match down the road.

but even having the same exact paint that was used on the car...and it is needed years later....there is NO guarantee that the color will match 100% due to age and fade.....and the fact that metallic paints can be altered (lighter or darker) by simply changing several dynamics when it is being sprayed or how it is mixed.

I can take a gun cup of this color and shoot a few test panels and change the color ..and it all has to do with how it is painted and the gun adjustments and other variables.

So....still having extra paint is a good thing.
