Except mine is on the top and not quite as bad. I think they get like this from people putting a screwdriver under them and prying. In my younger days I was also in that camp, if it don't go, force it! LOL

You are outpacing me, for sure. I have been spending most of my time on the shop itself. And I now have a shelf unit in the house just for Corvette project parts that are DONE and waiting installation. I presume you have some system to keep stuff from getting spread out too far?

At 4K intake to pan plus being rebuilt not run seems reasonable to me. Looks like a 65 date code on the block

Thanks Vitamin. I will look into that. I didn’t get much done Sunday. Had bad news Saturday night and didn’t feel like doing much. Got the rear valance done and hope those cracks can be fixed. Also worked more on the rear around the tail lights. What a pain. Planned to take Friday off and work on it but I’m going to Oklahoma instead that day.

Forgot to add the pic of fuse box the other day. Looks like it got a little damp at some point. No worries though as the whole harness will be replaced. I figure it’s cheap insurance.

No point trying to re-use 50+ year old wires when the penalty for a problem can be the loss of the whole car.

I believe the green is a spray on filler type material. I have a 64 that was coated in blue under two previous paint jobs. The chemical stripper I use is Citri-Strip and it turned into a goo like substance after working through the filler material. Denatured alcohol removed this goo when nothing else would affect it.

I know the pic you see is from a distance. Here is a close up from the outside and a bad inside. I still haven’t washed all the dirt off the inside but it’s green on both sides.

Didn't have any progress this week as it was a really crappy week. Went out today and made a little progress. Never got around to ordering the window trim tool so I decided to see if the windshield would come out with the lower trim still in place. Well, it comes out very easy. So easy I forgot to take pictures. First thing I did was take the razor knife and go around the sides and top of the weather stripping horizontal with the glass. This removed the outer lip of course. Then I went perpendicular at the glass edge and went around all three sides. I started to cut the inside of the lower edge weather strip but decided to see how stuck the windshield was first. I used a little pressure on the top driver corner and started to go across. Before I knew it the windshield started coming free. I got a better angle to hold and as I pushed the top out I was able to start lifting up from the driver lower corner. Out came the glass with the remaining weather strip.

Next I located all the clips holding on the lower trim and numbered them with blue tape. Took a pick and cleaned out the heads on the trim clip screws. Removed the screws and off came the trim. I then removed each clip and placed them in their own snack bag with the corresponding tape number and screw. Now I just have to finish cleaning the clips, the trim and glue off the windshield frame. I cleaned a little on the frame and took some pictures.

Thanks guys. Hit it pretty hard today. Got the doors and passenger rear quarter stripped down to the red primer. My son wanted to help but I only had one respirator so I told him we will be hitting the red primer tomorrow with just water and 3m pads. I’ll post progress pics tomorrow evening. Did get 90% of the carpet glue out this week working on it a little bit after work for a couple days.

We are calling this weekend done even though there is 2-3 hours of daylight left. Don’t know if it’s the heat, the task at hand or age but I’m spent. Still have some touch up spots to do, the insides of the doors and interior. Then on to the front, engine compartment, deck lid and hardtop. Started on the rear half of the interior while the boy was scrubbing red primer off the doors. I now have a new appreciation for people who do this for a living. Just wish I had full use of the whole garage. Off to pack everything back in the car till next time.

What did you use to get the glue off. Looks like it did a good job. Hang in there. I took the day off and went to a Chevy show and drag race. Gotta take a break now and then 😎

I used the 3M 08984 remover first with a razor blade. Left some residue but then I went with a coat of stripper to start loosening the paint and the remaining glue came off with a paper towel. At least the outer door panels didn’t give me any surprises. I’m taking next weekend off since it’s my anniversary. May take a work day off later in the week because the weather guessers say it’s supposed to be around 90.

What is "supposed to" be between the fiberglass and the carpet (other than the glue)? When the time comes for reassembly does it need to be primed or sealed, or just slap the glue down on what we see in the pics?
