Cleaning out my '64, among lots of bolts, screws etc I found one single .38 cartridge!

Go figure it hasn’t rained forever and decides to on my days off. I did get the deck lid and nose finished as well as clean up the hood catches, pins and hood prop bar. Between paint stripper and evaporust I think they came out well. Getting a quote from a zinc plater on the parts I want to redo. Still waiting to hear back from the chromer who thinks he can repair my console for a decent price. I’ve still got some paint left on the body in the jambs, front engine compartment and a little on the rear. The painter may have to get that as my weekends are screwed for the next month. I hope I saved some money stripping what I have done so far.

You are killing it. I cannot wait until you and the lovely bride go for that first ride. What a tribute to your brother.

You have surged way ahead of me, I have been tied up with another project and have done zippo on the Vette for 2 weeks. You are making me feel quite guilty!

Congrats on the progress! If you are bogged down for a while, maybe I'll regain some ground. The wife gets back from Texas tomorrow so I'll try to get back into a routine which allows at least a little bit of Vette time.

Default Build sheet

Just wondering did you ever find a build sheet?

Thanks all. Unfortunately I did not find the sheet. I did find the the one he had for his 65 Chevy II in a file but not this one. I’m just ready to get this body off to painter jail so I can start turning wrenches instead of 3M pads. Lol.

I’m sending off the console to be repaired this weekend but was wondering if anyone knew why there would have been a rivet placed through the console in the circled area in the pics. I think it’s a rivet. Dropping off the hood catches for zinc plating today and as usual it is supposed to rain all weekend so I’m not sure how much progress will be made.

There is no rivet - or fastener of any kind - at that location on my 67.

Not much progress to report. Worked the last two weekends and it rained yesterday. Got my parts back from the zinc plater only to realize I forgot a nut. Found it on the ground where I had packed up the parts. Go figure. Looking at my hood prop I noticed a scratch and I didn’t remember it being there. The scratch has plating on it so it was probably there. The plater said he could strip it and I could smooth it down and bring back to him. Had the boy put the hood spring together so I guess he has started restoring the car.

I thought I read somewhere they were zinc coated but I may have been confused. At least if it doesn’t hold up they are some of the easier parts to re do.

The great pumpkin showed up today, or rather the UPS guy. Brought me a surprise. I got my bumpers back from chrome. When I took the bumpers to the UPS store I was planning on just getting a quote but ended up shipping them without any great before shots. Here are some befores still on the car.

Received two boxes which contained the bumpers and license plate bracket. They were packed well and wrapped in paper with some kind of soft lining. Naturally its raining so indoor pics will have to do.
