Chris, that chrome looks amazing considering what you started with. Did you use Paul’s?

When do you think the painter will finish with the body so you can bolt that jewelry back in place?

Thanks all. Jon and Mark, I used Speed and Sport Chrome in Houston. I take the car next Friday and I am hoping for February/March. I know we will be busy working on the frame side while the body is away at paint camp.

If this is what the great pumpkin delivers, Santa’s elves better get busy!

Chris, The chrome looks beautiful. Now, the next thing I might suggest is to use a can of Rustolium black and brush paint the entire back sides of all the chrome. Do two coats if you like. It will prevent surface rust from forming on the underside of each piece. I did this same application to my bumpers in about '85. Dennis

Thanks Dennis. I remember reading about that but couldn’t remember if it was brushed or sprayed.

Hermn, I think the great pumpkin might beat Santa this year unless Santa gets credit for the paint and body work.

The trim tag tell us it "could" be a BB as body is St. Louis

Well that was weird. Had text and everything and somehow it disappeared. Anyway, to the car to East Texas this morning and got the body off. The two bolts at the deck lid spring were cut out since the nuts kept turning. They measured the frame and it shows to be square. Went over all my parts to see what was good and what was crap. Should have bought those rockers panels that were for sale a couple weeks ago. Doh!!!. Wife wants wide tires on the rear so we discussed extending the rear qtr about an inch. I will save that for a separate topic. Going to try an power wash the chassis tomorrow and then start spaying rust penetrator repeatedly this week.

Hey Chris,

Looks like you pulled it off without having the door latches on. Did the body seem to flex much, or did it remain pretty rigid?

Either way, it looks good off the frame!

Pat

Actually Pat I just removed the door handles for paint stripping. The latches are still there and functional. Looked pretty rigid to me.

Thanks Jon. I’m 99.9% it will be blue. We are stuck between a lighter one and dark one. Might come down to a coin toss. Lol.

I’m partial to blue with a white interior.

That is a beautiful car Ed. Here are two choices. The first is one was a one year 80 or 81 color I think he said. He still has some more buffing to do. The other is a new color. We are still looking but time is running out.

Well I found a rats nest in the rear driver side frame. Was hoping they stuck the tank sticker in there but they preferred something else.

Found the partial frame stencil and line marks in places. Any idea what this number should be and why I have two tic marks in some places and three in others?

And lastly, I have this tar like substance with rocks and shell or bone imbedded in it. What’s up with that?
