pop23235 it looks like those nuts don't spin but just move. I just moved them a little and assumed they were spinning. Forgot that they were supposed to move for body alignment. That what I get for assuming I guess.
mccarley, I will never come close to your talents. Read your build and it is incredible. Thanks for the motivation. I'm re using the stock 2.5" shafts and going with 1350 u-joints. Unless something major changes we are going with the ridetech coilover suspension front and rear. They come with an offset trailing arms. As far as rims, I have no clue till I get the body on.

Uh, Houston, we have ignition on body repair. Got home from work this morning around 4:30 am, took a nap and made the 2.5 hour drive to look at the body work start. Everything is still rough but moving forward now. She was working on the new extended rear quarters when I got there so I couldn't close the doors because of the clamps. They still have to make new repairs and re do a lot of the old previous repairs. The one behind my car was on it's final primer coat and it was beautiful. It was cool to see a big block hood sitting on the car. Of course seeing a big block under the hood will be cool as well. Anyway, here are some pics.

The Vette will be amazing.
I always think of your wife and how she bought into the build. When I started reading your thread I had no idea how extensive your build would become. The end result will be quite a legacy for your family and your brothers as well. Does your sister in law have any idea of what you have done so far?
Very inspiring.

Thanks Holt. This transitioned more than I ever thought. I do include my sister in law as well as my nieces on the progression and ideas. She told me just washing the car was the most progress she had seen in over 20 years.

Chris, looks great! I see they’ve already addressed the weird nose emblem issue and filled all the little cracks and dings. They are moving quickly and you should get it back looking brand new. Time to get the chassis up to spec. When do you expect to get it back from powder coating?

It’s looking that way Don.
Pat, that’s not me as I am not as talented or patient as you.
Actially Mark all the bondo spots you see are the prior repairs. The emblem is still wrong. I still need to learn to take better pictures. I think all they have done is set the lights back in, laid the hood on top, installed the quarters and exposed more of the previous rear damage repairs. He is going to send me some paint color test squares soon I hope. I’ll post them up when I get them.
The frame won’t go to powder coating until I get the crossmember done and I’m working around slalomfiend’s schedule on that as he is going to help me. Hopefully by the end of the month I will have it powder coated.

Thanks 65Bob-bo. Tom Ames in Longview is doing the paint and body. I’m taking a break on getting ready to strip the paint on the hard top. Almost done cleaning weather stripping glue. Have to use as much of this 68 degree day as I can.

Do y’all think this top was originally yellow then blue then green or is that some kind of yellow primer?

I’d say it was born yellow. I’m a bit ahead of you on my hardtop. Installed the back glass and part of the interior trim in the last week. If you take the two brackets that hold the spring and hold down bolts off (3 rivets per side), I have replacement rivets. Bought from ZIP. My bolt retaining springs were badly corroded. My only other hiccup was the retaining bracket for the upper back glass. Had to drill out two rivets to remove it for restoration. It pop-rivets back in place easily and the rivets are concealed with the interior trim. Still have the SS trim and weatherstrip to figure out.

Pop, I don’t recall having any springs. Am I missing something or just confused?

Pop, my brain finally woke up and I figured out the springs you were talking about. Here is the latest slow progress. Got the hard top finished a couple weeks ago. It was definitely yellow in its first life.
Broke out the dremel and some flitz polish on the vent windows. I was advised to send all the rest of the stainless window trim off to professional for polishing since I have never done this and was warned a bench polisher may grab and throw the trim.
