There were about 4 64 builds that all started about the same time. Others are far ahead but, Pat and I are ready to get going. I don't think anyone has to worry about our speed.
Our project had to take a back seat due to finishing up another project. (Still not finished, but heading in the right direction.)
Plans have been drawn and steel ordered for a body dolly. Pictures should be posted in the next 2 weeks.
The game plan is:
Separate the body.
The Body stays in Richmond.
The Chassis and new Frame goes to Raleigh..
Engine is going to be freshened up. Add a Fuel Injection system. Sniper. (Outside chance of an LS or Crate Engine, then a new transmission.)
Chassis Painted and new/rebuilt suspension.
Rear End - Bearings and Seals, maybe clutches.
Transmission - Minimum Clutch and Pressure Plate
Body - We are hoping we have found our guy to do the rebuild of the front end and headlights. We have a couple of other areas of concern but they are minor.
Paint - We have another shop we have used for paint in the past. Daytona Blue.
New Wiring Harness.
Dash is going to remain as is.
Interior will be later.
New top down the road.
We are looking for a solid driver.
I am at a snails pace, but I do have an excuse. My brother drove up yesterday to inspect the Vette and get a game plan in motion. More importantly he was bringing $! Our biggest hurtle was our original plan was to make it safe and drive it as it sits. The frame killed that idea. Bodywork is going to kill the patina. So now paint makes sense since the body will be off. I am afraid this tar baby has sucked us in, but when we look at it the memories of the Tolsens family 65 Vette in our small town it pushes us forward.
We may be getting closer to separating the body. The complete car is going to Angier NC. Pat has a large shop and a 2 post lift. We also have some friends that are interested in turning a wrench. They are not Corvette guys but they are much smarter than me. The steel finally arrived and I am getting going on the body dolly.
The extra adjustable cross member is so I can work on my channels and place it where it is needed.
The others will bolt the body to the dolly.

Posted earlier, but it vanished?? Good to see you are still plugging at it Holt. Wondered how the new gymnasium was coming along. You likely have the frame dimensions to set the body mount height, but sing out if I can help.
Ouch. That bites. I have been fortunate that the only bolts so far to break were on one headlight limit switch. Not sure what I’m gonna run into next week when I hit the orange frame. I’m going to spray aerokroil on every bolt for a week and pray. Hopefully that is the last of the broken bolts for you.
You are making great progress. You will be amazed how much easier the work goes once the body is away from the frame. And how the transfer of motor and trans and diff and springs and suspension goes when you get there. ZIP Products has many parts close to you.
Holt, not great, but somewhat better results when using the juice of choice to soak is also to gently use the impact wrench. Forward, backward gently. Rinse and repeat.
Not sure how I missed this thread, but I'm following it now. Great progress, which is much needed motivation for the suspension replacement I've got to do on my '65 convertible.

I was wondering the same thing. Then looking at the date the thread started, I realized that day I was preparing to drive 1,000 miles to Iowa to buy MY '64, which also needs a ton of work. And OP bought his in Webster which is a half hour from here!

I applaud you guys on your ambition of these resto/builds.
Having lived in the NW corner of Illinois until 1981 I am only too familiar with the rusted bolts and frames on old Corvettes and can say that I certainly don’t miss any of that since being in AZ. since 1981.
Looking at these projects makes me feel so bless to have my forever southwestern states rust free 1957. I also this past year bought my 1965 from N.Y. state but was lucky enough to find an original 76K mile car that had never been winter driven and always garaged that is totally rust free.
I will be thinking of you guys for the next year or more while I am driving my cars and you are working towards done cars.Best of luck to all of you.
