I have been watching your thread. I am pretty close after today with taking the body off next week. I have the entire rear of the car ready. Bumper bolts were a pain, but with what the brackets cost, I had to save them.
Nice to see up inside the body. I am really excited to start working with the body. Even more excited to see my brother work his magic with the new frame and suspension.
I have sprayed the front bumper bolts and will let them sit and hit them again in the AM.

I am so excited to make some real progress with the 64. You can see I am at the tail end of my 1960 Healey. Totally different type of car but it is looking pretty good.
Next week we are going to your old stomping grounds - The MCACN Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals in Chicago Nov 17-18. My wife is going with me so I am hoping she will buy into getting this one on the road. My buddy is showing his 1970 Hemi Cuda and his 1970 Buick GSX so this is our first couples weekend with the wives. Should be plenty of nice Corvettes to drool over!!

I can't speak for the other guys but for me half the fun is the reward and challenge. Sure, it would be nice to jump into my '64 and drive it. But I am truly enjoying the fun of seeing various pieces transformed from those rusty hunks of metal into something which will eventually go back on the car. Some people will spend days with a 10,000 piece jigsaw puzzle. I'm somewhat that way with the car. I have no delusions about saving much money, but I have had no regrets whatever so far with mine.
(And while some will scoff, I DO have the '92 C4 to drive. Put about 40 miles on it today, may be the last time this year as snow is predicted next week! )
Here's the shelf unit in the basement gradually filling up with nice pretty bumper brackets, assorted covers, and other odd stuff. And it's got way more on it now than when I took the pic.
I can't speak for the other guys but for me half the fun is the reward and challenge. Sure, it would be nice to jump into my '64 and drive it. Oh yes, that's how they look! The good news is they do clean up nicely. Blast cabinet, then self-etching primer, then I have been using that 5-ball Krylon semi-flat. Not sure if that's NCRS correct but I bought a case of it and they look great. Hang in there, it's all progress whether it's a big step or a small one.

As a 25 cent millionaire God has blessed me with health, a beautiful wife, kids, grandkids, family and a big garage with plenty of cars and projects. And one day when my brother and I take the 64 for a cruise, it will be what we created. Now if I hit the lottery I will be driving it sooner than later!!!

I love your passion and good health. My disability has prevented me working on cars in my garage since 2000. But great enthusiasts like you all keep me involved and act as my hands and eyes looking at cars and evaluating a classic. I bought a 1985 GMC Caballero from Mike Joy, NASCAR and BJ Announcer last July. It has allowed me to stay close to all ''car guys''. Tomorrows 48 degree rain at the Kerrville Veterans Car Show is a bummer. Many of us old geezers will pass on the event.
I brought in the reinforcements from NC to check off boxes on the list of items needed to pull the body. Pat got to witness how every bolt fights to stay where they were installed 54 years ago. We knocked the list down to about 10 items. The best part is we have done all the hard items except maybe the radiator and shroud. Left to do are the 4 bolts inside on the steering column (under the hood the bolts are out of the shaft and coupling - had to search for the 12 point wrench for the special bolt), hood, wires and lines, etc. Looks like we may actually make our goal of having the body off by Thanksgiving and the frame sent to NC to live with him..
I have to say the best part was having my brother giving me a hand. He is great to work with and has a good vision on where we are going with this project.

Man, the countdown to lift-off is like Cape Canaveral! Go easy on the lift and look it over good because it's almost a guarantee there will be some little thing you missed. But it sounds like you're in good shape, can't wait to see the separation.
The list is complete. We never found the ground in the engine compartment. I was under the impression it was located near the throttle shaft?
Now we just need to pick a time and lift the body. One of my 4 post lifts is an extra height and length version. I am not worried about any clearance issues.
My goal would be to have the drive train ready this time next year. The body would be primed and ready for paint. It we hit those milestones it would be great and a surprise.
Holt, I recall one ground strap on the carb accel rod at the firewall end, but it attaches to the accel lever and somewhere on the accel linkage. Can't recall right off. Doesn't attach to the frame or anything like that. There is one on the pass side motor mount that is the engine/chassis ground. Another from the birdcage to the chassis in front of the driver footwell inside the engine compartment, down low. Two mid chassis on the exhaust brackets. These I recall, there are others.
If you have time, check with Todd for pictures of the 67 he just painted. Similar to your color. Beautiful car.
Those four post lift make it nice. My body shop had to cut the bolts at the deck lid spring area. All the others came out. I think you will still be ahead of me for driving. Here is a couple pics of the lift.

I THOUGHT I had everything but missed the ground strap you speak of. Can't remember just where it was but somewhere near the steering column or rear of the block. Caught it before any damage was done. If you're seeing empty bolt holes not otherwise spoken for, maybe yours is gone.
I will bet you lunch. It is a bet I would love to lose.
