Default Anyone ever tried dying your door panel carpet?

My 61’ has black carpet, but the door panels are black olive. Has anyone ever dyed your door panel carpet? I’m wondering how hard it would be to go black. This is original 61’ carpet.

Talk to any local upholstery shops? I am sure they can replace the strip for you without needing to dye them. then again it is hard to tell from that point on the door panels.

Salt and pepper carpet does look good! Maybe change the carpet .

Local upholstery shops should be able to replace it.

I think it is worth a try, myself.

I've known guys that used spray dye on car floor carpet that turned out looking okay.

You can use black upholstery spray dye.

It looks OK. Somewhat better than spray-on hair for men, but since it is low on the panel, you don't really notice it.

I had a '64 coupe and the back carpet was sun faded. My wife told me to use Rit clothing dye. To my surprise it turned out really well. It was black, I don't know if other colors would work as well or not

I did my sun faded teal carpet with Rit dye last year. Did it with the carpet in the car but seats out. Used a sponge to dab the dye on the carpet and a soft brush to work it in. Hard to get the color right but black should be a cinch.
