Default 1962 vette paint chip repair

1962 fawn-beige original paint with a few chips on dorsal fender. I would like these chips repaired. I am new to the Villages in central Florida. Any suggestions for a paint shop in the area?

what the heck is a 'dorsal fender'?

if you're brave (and careful...) a paint chip can be touched up yourself with some single stage paint of the color. build up layers of the paint with a small brush or toothpick to fill the chip area and after it is completely dry, wet sand it carefully with 1200-1500 wet/dry sandpaper.

This is definitely the best tool I have ever used for detailed touch-up. You can easily pinpoint the chip without over painting the area nearby. It takes some practice, but once going it's awesome!!

There's a good demo on this video starting around 5:20...

This is all I use anymore...Even for the larger chips or scratches.

Looks like a nice product. Much better than the micro brushes I’ve been using.

I have a set of ultra small brushes that the gals use to paint designs on their fingernails but the above tool may be better. I find that for tiny work the tool becomes less of a problem than the thickness of the paint...thinning is nearly a must for the smallest repairs...

I know this is a very old thread and I wished I found it earlier. I had another thread going but this one is specific to DFW.

I stumble upon this site when googling for chip repair and paint correction in DFW. https://icandyautobody.com/

Anyone hear of them or have any experience with them? I'm not sure they would have the skills to deal with a classics.

Probably better to start a new thread rather than tacking on to an old one.
