I'd never heard of them previously. They seem to offer a good product and superior customer support at a better price than LL.

The shop that did the resto on my 64 coupe also used a 65 chassis for the car. The original 64 frame has some rust issues, but the birdcage was beautiful. The owner wanted disc brakes as well.

Financially, it made sense to get a very nice southern california 65 chassis and restore it. That is what they did.

Just a consideration...converting a C3 chassis might be more cost effective. Just a thought.

Here is something interesting on Craigslist from Trumbull (Hartford), CT. A 1977 Corvette rolling chassis fully restored, offset trailing arms (might not want those), and rebuilt differential.
Rally rims are NOT included. Price is firm at $3000. Seller's phone is 203-816-1658.

A friend of mine recently converted a 1978 chassis for use on a 1966 Corvette he is building as a driver for his wife. Not a big deal to do, and the frame parts are readily available.

Thanks for the encouragement, guys! I'ts coming along, and more importantly I'm having fun!

I saw that thread about the AAW wiring. I had not heard of them either until that thread, but several on here have had favorable things to say. I'll certainly do some homework!

I have spoken to someone about a rolling chassis for sale, and we have a verbal agreement pending inspection. Problem is that car will be a restomod, and as we know, body shops work on a different time measure than the rest of us. The body will be lifted from that chassis "soon" - whatever THAT means! I'm sure the seller is also anxious and I'm trusting him to keep the right amount of pressure on the shop to keep them motivated without pissing them off. (Seller is a forum member here).

That chassis in CT is interesting, and it;'s good to have choices. Right now I'm going to hang in there a bit longer for the one I mentioned, that sounds like what I want and the seller has a good reputation from what I hear. But if I get too much other stuff done and that's holding up the works, we'll have to re-think it.

Oh, that was last April, a day or two after we brought it back from Iowa. The whole deal came up rather fast, and it took some time to move stuff in the garage to make room. Our son asked if he could keep one of his Nissan 300ZX's in the garage while he and his wife lived in NY City a couple years. What's a Dad going to say? That was 2012, and guess where they STILL live, and guess what is STILL taking up half the garage? So when the Vette showed up, unimportant things like the lawn mower and the snow blower had to be moved to a shed for the thing that's important!

Spent a couple days out there and made some good progress, FINALLY got the right side headlight bucket out, I've been fighting that since summer, and every so often took another crack at it. Managed to cut the last rounded-off bolt off so we an cross THAT item off. Also did a whole bunch of small stuff - removed the outboard kick panel carper from both sides, removed the wipers and the grills under them, scraped more carpet adhesive remains off, dinked around with the soft top, lots of fun.

And I removed the rear wire harness. Thought y'all would enjoy () seeing what I found when I got into THAT. This is just as I was getting going, it did not happen as a result of what I did:



This extended quite a ways. Maybe that's why the previous owner had a couple boxes of fuses in the glove box!

Between the consensus on the forum, and just plain common sense, all new wiring is the only way to go on a car this old. Yes, insurance will pay if it burns up, but the sweat and effort and emotional attachment invested can't be replaced. I've got it apart anyway, there will never be an easier time to do it.

Pancho, it was great to meet a forum legend and thanks for giving that chassis a look-over and a thumbs-up - it's a real beauty. I felt TERRIBLE trailering it home through the salt and slush. This morning I had to brush 3" of snow off just to take a few pics. It's now under a tarp and will be in the garage as soon as I can figure how to convince my son to remove the 300ZX that's taking up half my shop!

Also thanks to forum member Woodsdesign - the car was exactly as he described it - even better - and the price was more than fair.

Lots more to do before I can put the chassis to use but it's a huge step forward and a load off my mind.

I’m not going to buy anything with you. Every time you do it is snowing. Looks good and that should put you ahead in the schedule.

IF I don't wind up stripping the paint, and am able to bring what's on it now back to "driver" quality as DUB and others think may be possible, I MIGHT be driving mine before you finish. But in the long run yours will look WAAY nicer.

You mean you wouldn't brave a little snow for a chassis that nice - after seeing the one I removed from the car? Aw, it wasn't THAT bad - I call it "common sense weather". You can't drive 75, but 50 to 55 was no problem whatever. Just because the road was white instead of black.....
