Here's another way. But you still have to come up with what number you want on your own. Does your magic number mean the difference across both wheels as shown, or are you getting per wheel and doubling it? I personally used the method shown except instead of a plate on the floor, I used the tool that attaches to the wheel front and rear that has the same type slots as this picture. I put a tape measure through the front slots, another through the rear slots and set the difference to 1/16" total difference centered between the two sides so that the steering wheel stayed straight. I have no complaints, but YMMV.
