Default Tire Pressure

Just curious - what tire pressure are folks running with their radials on a C2? I have mine set at 28 lbs all around running a 215/70R-15 radial tire. Given the relatively light weight of these cars vs. newer ones, it would seem 32+ lbs would be too high. I don't have enough miles on the tires to tell if they are wearing properly. Wondering what others are doing?

I have mine set at 30 even though 32 would be fine. I think the ride is a bit smoother

Thanks. That seems really high for a somewhat light car. Are you noticiing any unusual tread wear patterns?

I set mine at 32# cold. Easier to maneuver with “armstrong steering”.

32-34# is ideal for ride comfort and tire wear. At 28# you're going to heat those tires up pretty quickly (if you're highway driving) and you'll wear the inner and outside edges of the tread. Try 32# and see if you don't like the ride and handling.

Thanks, Leif! I'll try it at 32#. Living in AZ, one doesn't have to drive on the highways to heat up the tires.

Ask the tire manufacturer. Do you know anyone who is smarter than the guys that designed them? It is all based on gross vehicle weight and sidewall construction.

I have always heard that for the most comfortable ride, set the pressure to the car manufacturers recommendation; for the longest tire life, set it to the tire manufacturers recommendation. I still set it to 32 like most of you.

I can't see how you could go wrong with 32 PSI cold as some of the others have already suggested.

no, not at all. I played around with a 32# setting at first but by bumping it up 3-4#'s handling felt more precise.

Default Thanks!

Thanks to all for your replies. Looks like I'll be bumping my pressure up to at least 32#.
