No Brake Lights Drivers Side
Trying to trace down the problem this morning. I think the brake lights worked before I got the car but not now. Anyway, can someone tell me where this connector (in red) is located? Anyone got any ideas where to look? Other than this, all the lights work fine.
Also, bulbs look good.

Which is exactly why I use Dr. Rebuild's color pictorial schematics...
I believe that is the rear harness connector behind/above the driver's kick panel....but that is prob not your issue.

Take a look at this diagram. If your driver's side turn signal works and your driver's side brake light does not, the problem is the contact in your turn signal switch where the yellow wire comes out. If neither the turn signal nor brake light works on that side it could be in that connector located above the clutch pedal under the dash to the left and at the kick panel (rear body connector that you have in red). In the diagram below, one section of that connector is shown at the bottom right and the other above the turn signal, but they connect together to feed the back lights and fuel sender. Post back whether the turn signal works and we can go from there.
A good test is to leave the key off, step on the brake, then turn the turns signal stalk left and center and see if the brake light flickers when you do. If it does, it's definitely in the switch. (remember to do this with the key off and the brake pressed)

I need to get the spring terminals out of the plastic holder so I can solder new wires on. How do they come out? I’ve tried every which way.

Sorry, I can't help you. I have to do troubleshooting one step at a time and using your description. "Messing around and now tail light doesn't work either" isn't anything I can deal with. If you get your socket back together and get back to where you can give me symptoms, and IF you follow along with me in troubleshooting I will be happy to try to help you find the problem. Post back if you need help.

You used to be able to buy those socket pigtails with 6" wire leads.
I bought some at NAPA, off one of their electrical parts turnstiles in 1974, for my car. Long before I replaced the entire harness in 2008.
but that was 44 years ago, pretty much to the day..
They may still be available on special order. I think they were pretty generic for any late '50s early 1960s Chev.

Autozone, O’Reillys, and Advance Auto didn’t have them, but found them at Long Island, should have them Thursday. Then I should be able to get the rear lights fixed and then concentrate on fixing the brake lights.

Okay, pigtail is ordered so I can get back on my initial problem. Before I started this, I had brake lights on the right side, now they don’t work at all. Got the steering wheel off, but haven’t removed anything yet. Here’s what I know,
Lights on, taillights work
No brake lights at all
Key on, left & right turn signals work
When driving, left turn signal cancels as it should, right turn signal only partially cancels
With key off and brake pedal depressed and left turn signal on, the right brake lights come on.
What do you think?

Yeah, already checked that, not it. I can’t get the turn signal arm that’s held in with a screw and O ring out so I can check the contacts. I’m afraid I’m going to break it. Should it just pull out?

Yes, I missed the coding on this, sorry, it’s for a C2 and it’s going from bad to worse. Didn’t have taillights at all and discovered the fuse was blown. The previous owner had a 25amp where it should be 10amp. I undid what I thought might be causing it and blew the 10.
Did I mention I hate electrical problems!
