502 4 Quart pan oil starvation?
Has anyone with the GM 4 qt big block pan had oil issues? It seems odd that GM would offer the kit if there is a chance of engine damage.
The pan kit in question--

And the part that has me concerned. Straight from Summits page
Notes: Designed to fit Gen V and VI engines only. It will not fit 1990 and earlier Mark IV engines. Pan is not intended for competition or spirited street driving. Oil sump capacity is insufficient for performance driving. Oil system starvation from extended high RPM operation, hard cornering, or rapid acceleration.
Thoughts or concerns? I really dont want to recomend a pan to my customer and have issues later, especially if he runs it hard.
Thanks
Nick

I put the GM 4 quart pan on a ZZ454 that went in my 69. Been running fine for all of 5 years now. If your not racing it and do not put a high volume oil pump in it you will be fine. As stated above use the truck filter to gain more oil if it makes you feel better.
A high volume pump can run a 6 quart pan dry under the right conditions.
