It was forecast to be a warm, dry evening at the monthly cruise-in in Opelika, AL last night. So I dusted off the Corvette and had an enjoyable time with family and friends ..... except for two things. First, the weather guesser missed again and a brief rain shower chased off all the open top cars about an hour into the event. We stayed for while longer before leaving to meet at a nearby restaurant for dinner. As I pulled into the restaurant's parking lot in first gear at idle speed, I depressed the clutch. There was an immediate loud bang and the clutch pedal slammed agaist the firewall and stayed there. Not knowing what my options for getting home would be, I located a drive-through parking space and shoved the shifter into neutral before shutting down the car. Before I went in to join the family I looked around the floor near the pedal and saw the washer and broken cotter pin that used to secure the clutch rod to the pedal. .... After dinner I went up under the dash and working mostly by feel, inserted the remains of the cotter pin back into its place before bending over both ends enough to get me home. .... I don't think I'm the only old car owner (yes - in both ways) whose car always picks car events as the preferred place to break down. I guess that's because that's when it gets out the most.

It’s a warm day up here in the northeast, so I changed the oil and filter and checked the brake fluid level on my ‘66. Then I washed and waxed my ‘55 Belair. Also vacuumed the garage. I’m done, my back says “no mas!”

Had my buddy come over to help me set my newly refurbished windshield and frame on the 61. I'll work on bolting it in this week. Put a pinion seal in the rear differential of the 69 Blazer I restored over the last year and a half ( I am almost done!). Cleaned up the garage and I can now walk around without killing myself for the first time in over a year.

Couple of annoying problems on the '66 fixed.

Installed new PML cast aluminum transmission pan on my 200-4R - should stop never ending leak with stock pan 

And new LOKAR throttle & TV cables – great setup and easy adjustment. I’ve use these on other vehicles and they are super – detailed instructions.

I've used Lokar on several streerods and they have great products. Even used Lokar on my '59 Vette.

Over the last two afternoons, I installed the newly refurbished windshield frame on the '61. My back is not happy. I also started the install of a USA am/fm radio after removing the original am radio (still works). I have worked every afternoon and weekends putting my 69 Blazer together. I am almost done with it. Have to do exhaust, finish installing lower trim, and get the toe set. I have pretty much worn myself out.

Turned in my 90 Day notice yesterday, selling my businesses, hopefully will be able to post to this thread soon as a retired person. Been driving my Vette around a lot more trying it a little further out each time. Made a 200 mile round trip two weekends ago with no issues. Hopefully will be hitting the road this fall for some extended trips.

Sunny and hot here in upstate NY today. Took my 8 year old grandson out for a spin. I let him shift a few times, he loved it. Of course I hit McDonald's for his chocolate shake on the way home! I put plenty of sunscreen on him, didn't want his Mom give me that LOOK ! Lol

As it was 109 at my house yesterday, I turned the A/C on in the garage for a bit, got a cold beer, then went out and shared it with the '64 and '02. They don't like beer, so I drank it all myself. Retired life is so hard...

Hey Dave, I live on the opposite corner of Phoenix (Queen Creek) and, like you, I turned the garage a/c down, checked to make sure the beer refrigerator was stocked, turned on Fox News.......and then I drug out the chain saw and started cutting the firewall out of my C-1 to move the motor even further back. I don't turn 72 until later this month, but I still thought I better get moving a little faster on this project before someone passes the green-new-deal and I can't get leaded race gas. LOL

Semi-retired. Working on these for an hour a day for the past week. A bit more polishing to get them where I want them.

Did Mom let you take him for a ride without a booster seat?
I would love to take my grandsons for a ride, but Mom won't let them ride in a plastic car.

Cleaned it up. Going to take it and the wife to a show tomorrow. It is not a show vehicle, my gen 1 Blazer is, but she likes to ride in the Vette. (so do I). The hard top is on it as I await my August soft top install at Carlisle. I actually like the look better than the roadster look.

Drove out to the Oregon coast with the top down. Stopped at an RV park I'm interested in, then continued up to Spirit Mtn Casino for the Buffet. This old Hemi/Vette just purrs!
