Got the 65 out today. The hardtop is on and the tourists have left Cape Cod. Cruised by the beaches and picked up a couple of "Bugs" (Lobsters) for dinner tonight. Great time of year.

jdk971 stopped by with his sweet silver SWC. We took off for a short ride, nothing better than a pair of sweet silver midyears going down the road. We are going to try to see midyearvette tomorrow. Enjoy em while you can!

Safety Car
Needed changes to recently installed 200-4R transmission.
Rewired internal wiring to match Comp-u-Shift electronic controller. They did not mention in their documentation or have schematic regarding electronics. Also needed new 4th gear pressure switch. This will control torque converter lock-up.
Also installed new governor/speedometer drive gear & driven gear to correct speedometer which was off by about 12 mph (at 60 reading 72).
Will add fluid tomorrow and check everything out.

Helped my friends wife clean out the one room of the shop he had behind his house, he passed last Oct and the house is for sale.
Another reason I decided not to work after my official retirement.. Tomorrow is not guaranteed....

Sunny fall day here in central Ohio. Not many left, saw a lot of classics on the road today.

Was headed for a local show in the split window for "special needs" kids but driven back home by a torrential rain shower....too bad as it was a worthy cause...

Continuing to fit up parts on my 63 SWC. Today was the water pump and a couple of fittings sorting out the best way to route hoses from water pump to bulkhead manifold. Will put a temporary plate up to mount the bulkhead to so I can see where are going.....I know I need to tap the water pump NPT fitting holes a bit deeper to make some more clearance for the hose 90 degree fitting and the suspension mount. It fits, but another 0.040 to 0.080" would be great. Another one or two threads. I have mounted the Vintage Air unit to check for fit, that is looking good, now need to attach some hoses and get the length as well as orientation of the fittings relative to each other sorted. Hose has a minimum bend radius of 6" which looks right now like it will work.
Right now feels like 2 steps forward, 3 steps backwards! The past several days it felt like 1 step forward, 5 steps backwards! Progress!

Finished rebuilding the starter. Brushes, bushings and a cleanup. I believe it still had the original solenoid but I went to FLAPS and got a new one just for reliability. Just have to coax the small bolt at the near end of the solenoid into place, rubber grommet is interfering. Another item on the shelf waiting for final assembly.

Been retired for 16 years...
Yesterday was picture perfect Fall day here in northern VA. Wife suggested we take the '66 out for a cruise after church and stop by a craft brewery (love that woman!)
We needed the exercise, so we hoisted a couple of pints of Old Ox brewery's Octoberfest and marveled at the energy of cyclists who stopped by from the W&OD bike trail.
On the way home, got a thumbs up from a Lambo driver who slowed down to look us over (guess there is hope for the next generation after all).
Was using the GPS feature but discovered that it is very difficult to hear the spoken directions even with the windows up (stock under-car exhaust). Wife noted there is sure a lot of outside air coming in around the side window with the hard top on the car. Sounds like another project...
Later, went to a piano concert at George Mason University. Life is good!!!

Put her up on my 4 post lift to look for a "clunk" heard going over a bump. Turned out to be just a loose bolt holding the side pipes. Then removed the electric fuel pump and repair a small leak and put some more insulation between the pump and the frame. What I should have done and now will go back again is put a thin piece of rubber between the pump and the bracket. Easily worked on sitting under the 4 post lift.

Drifting
Last week I put the hard top on the 62, only about the 3rd time it's been on in 20 years. Drove from Richmond up to Harpers Ferry, then spent 3 days cruising the back country roads of West Virginia. Put 987 miles on the car, had a great time.

Pulled my steering wheel off the telescopic column to work on the turn signals.
Have 3 pictures of the cancelling cam.
Right turn operations seem okay but the left turn clicks loud when it sets and resets to off.
Does this cam appear to be okay? The two tabs that reset the turn signal are different shapes??
