With the prices on these things nowadays you could swear they ARE gold plated!

If I had the air cleaner assembly, I might consider using it, but that still presents the issue of what to do with the alternator.

It could be worse, the first 63-65 FI unit I ever saw on a car was on a 1957 Bel Air Convertible. It had a custom air cleaner similar to the 57 air cleaner setup.

And the entire unit, including the air cleaner setup, was gold plated. Real gold plated, not painted.

I wish I had gotten a picture of that engine.
as a tinkerer to a rocket scientist, where there is a will there is a way... back when I added a/c to my 65 FI coupe in about 68, I nestled a York/Tecumseh style compressor on top of the intake manifold between the plenum/thermostat housing and the alternator. compressors are way smaller now....

[QUOTE=JF in MI;1597460679

There are lots of hot rods at shows that have been converted to FI (usually something off a new Corvette etc) but no one, that I've seen, daring enough to try a completely original Rochester unit.[/QUOTE]

Lot's of street rods had the Rochester FI on them. Take offs from Corvettes that had incompetent mechanics that didn't know an ignition problem from a fuel problem. Then, the price climbed of the Rochester's and the units came off street rods and back on Corvettes and/or Ebay.

I like what you've done there even though the throttle body system isn't exactly as responsive as port injection. I think you did a great job on your conversion and the Corvette people I know, most wouldn't know the difference and who cares if they do? Your's is probably the best one that mocks original I've seen.

I live and drive on Indiana/Kentucky gasoline and don't have much, if any problem with 89 E 10 gasoline. Maybe I am just a little more tolerant than some?

That is probably from the same vendor as other LS Rochester creations you can see on this website:

Hop, skip and a jump. Go see your neighbor for a few ideas.

Not quite that easy. My "neighbor" is not the friendliest person around. I actually got more info from the Super Chevy article.

Bill;

No doubt that are many ways to do this. I just need to decide how far I want to take the idea.

A few years back, I was fishing Wilson Lake and I stopped by his shop. He had just gotten started. Didn't seem like he wanted to talk much.
