Default My car (58) took "Best of Show" in Bay Area Corvette show

It's been awhile since I have posted on this forum, but I wanted to leave this message for those that are restoring their car and coming here for help.

Over the years, I asked A LOT of questions and was never afraid to ask because I may look stupid to the "know-it-all's".

Don't get me wrong, the majority of people on here were very helpful...but there were also some real jerks. People that just love to make you look like an idiot while they boast about how much they know. All I can say is...ignore them. They are the one's with the problem...not you.

For those people that did help me, and there were a lot...I want to say THANK YOU!!!

I entered my car into an CORVETTE ONLY show in the bay area where there were over 150 corvettes from different corvette clubs on display...and I won "BEST IN SHOW"!!

I am convinced that I would have never won this, if it wasn't for many of you...a list that would take me all day to write. You know who you are.

A trophy is nice....but the REAL award is enjoying a car that you built...in my case brought back to life. The goal isn't about winning trophies...it's about you enjoying your car and taking pride in all the work you have done. Only you know of all hours you spent on a cold winter night in the garage all alone banging your head on everyhing and busting your knuckles up. THAT's what you should take pride in and also take pride in the enjoyment these cars bring to others.

ENJOY!!!

Once again I didn't read before punching the button and posted the wrong thing. It was sarcasm about me wanting to listen to who ever you did so my car could turn out nearly that nice. When posting from my phone its easy for me to hit the wrong key. And too often I don't proof before I post.

I like your seats. They should have been an option like that. Matches the body/cove nicely.

If there was ever a silk purse from a pig’s ear story, your car is it.

Beautiful car. It deserves the award.

Amazing transformation that I can only imagine the time, effort, and finances it took to get your Corvette where it is today. You earned that award.

I was actually kind of lucky, because I happen to meet a guy that owned a corvette body shop...and he only worked there part-time...did sheet rock for a "real job".

I had some background in fiberglass as I built an El Toro sailboat, but I learned the tricks of the trade from him...and then just mastered it.

When I repaired my car, I actually took a radial arm saw and cut slits in the rear panel at the top to get the arch right...cause it had been repaired incorrectly and the hood didn't fit.

Back then...there was no internet and finding parts was slim to none...we actually took a mold from a 56 that was in the shop for the rear panel...without the customer knowing!! Here is this nice 57 and we are putting fiberglass on this guys car. Funny now, but I'm sure he wouldn't have thought so if he knew. But we didn't harm the car or paint at all.

So a lot of this repairing ya just have to dive in and hope. Nice thing about fiberglass is if you screw up...it's easy to fix.
