Hurst Competition+ with Corvette T shifter
I noticed at least one of the aftermarket houses sells a Hurst Competition Plus shifter that uses a shift lever that looks just like the BW T-10 with the reverse lockout "T" bar. I kinda like the looks of the original shifter in these classics and wondered if anyone has tried one of these? I would be putting it on a Muncie, instead of the BW, so I'll have to check to make sure the cover that trans as well. At least twice as expensive as the typical Hurst shifter, but if it works right It might be right for me.

no problem; the current hurst shifter uses a bolt-on handle, so get the right shifter mechanism for your Muncie and then pick the bolt-on handle that suits your fancy...

I had one of those and hated it. I sold the original "paper clip" shifter at a swap meet and bought the aftermarket shifter handle that you are describing.
Great for shows, but felt like I'm shifting a lawn tractor when running through the gears. If I recall, the shifter ball is so flimsy that it cracked in half not even 6 months after I installed it. Went back to the standard, straight Hurst handle with a 4 speed pattern white cue ball and have never looked back.

As you can see in the photo, there are some extra levers--I think that's because my application required some mixing and matching from different Hurst linkage kits, and CC just sent the extra levers rather than keep them. Can't see the handle really well, but it is the replica T-handle.

If you need the whole shooting match--linkage, shifter, and replica handle, I think the kit from CC works out a little better $-wise than buying all the parts "a la carte".

I have one in my 65 and I love it, no lock out but I can make believe there is as I go into reverse.

If you wince a bit and exude a slight grunt while pulling up on the fake lockout during ops checks it’ll even pass judging.

I have a Hurst on a Muncie in the 56, with a replica handle. Of course, 56-58 Vettes did not have the T-handle, so I have the replica straight handle, like what was in those cars.

I have one in my 1961 and love it. No problems installing or fitting. And you can shift hard to the stops. ( so I've been told.) It has a stiffer feeling and no vibration.

Hurst
I have the Hurst and the replica T handle in the 66 I just bought. I did not know it had a Hurst in it and I was surprised when I went into reverse without using the lock-out. Almost backed into the car ( my wife) behind me at the red light.
Could be a lack of seat time in the car, but I have had some first to fourth inadvertent shifts. Also hangs up in neutral occasionally.
Adjust linkage and bushing kit is on the" to do" list.

My 5 spd., T5 conversion with the replica bolt on Hurst type shifter handle in my 59. It is a crisp shifting gear box and totally adequate for the 270 hp. 283. The 5 th gear overdrive works great with the original 4:11 POSI.
