Default Its officially too hot to work in the garage now

I love the heat; but after about 10:30am or so, even with fans running full blast, working in the garage is too much. I'll get some A/C some day - mebbe....

Finished my last two "projects" until cooler weather I'm thinking....

Adding an electric booster pump for vapor lock -- operated by a push button in the console DS side panel, and, now that the rear suspension and trailing arms are overhauled and a 4 wheel alignment done, the final torquing of all the under car components in back - especially the front trailing arm bushing bolts... My information is that this last task has to be done with "weight on wheels" and getting access to both ends of the bolt is a PITA.

You’re making headway, Frankie. I like working to improve my car but it’s too hot here also, 104 yesterday with promise of more to come. My shop has air, but has too many open places to really pull down so rarely run it. Work early in the morning and wait for cooler weather...

Frank - your next project should be a mini split A/C system. You’ll be glad you did.

I would think anyone that can afford to own a classic Corvette could afford to air condition/heat his/her garage. Don't you think?

I hear that line quite often here about spending money on the car and not being cheap so I'd guess it should apply to the owner's well being?

Default Hot Hot Hot

Frankie: I know what you mean. My son and I put put springs and struts on all four wheels on my daughter-in-laws car on Sat. I drank a gallon of water and did not pee once. We were done by noon. I'm getting too old for this stuff. Thank goodness for lifts and air tools. Jerry

That's part of the price ya gots ta pay for saving a couple bucks on state income tax. That and palmetto bugs, love bugs, termites, mosquitoes and recurring mold/mildew all over your house/walkways, etc. Having to enjoy the outdoors in screened enclosures and remaining shuttered in your house with air conditioning to escape the stifling heat/humidity ain't worth saving a few bucks in taxes. I know too many people who moved to The Swamp only to move back Home.

Joe, you forgot the hurricanes, high home owners insurance premiums and over population. I am sure I missed a few.

How True Mike,
Even though I live in the Northeast..it still can get Hot as hell in my garage. I have a Supper High speed Ceiling fan that blows a blast of air down onto the Vette as well a s Big Azz Window A/C unit in my one car garage window. If I can spend over 1 K for a Digital Dash...I can Spenp a Few hundred on being comfortable while I toil on my ride.

Gonna' be in the 90's today and for the next 8-10 days here with very high humidity. I have a dedicated one car, concrete block garage here I do all my garden tractor repairs in. Even it is air conditioned with a window unit and a fan on one end of the room.

It's great living in a four season climate but I can take cold a lot better than heat.

Just a few years ago I wouldn't turn the AC on in my shop unless it was 100. Not anymore I still don't mind working outside in the heat but if I'm in a shop may as well have the air. I'll take mosquitos termites horse flies deer flies any day rather than live up north.

One of the best things I ever did for the garage was installing a Mitsubishi Mr. Slim about 5 years ago. It provides AC in summer and also is a heat pump for winter.
Wasnt very expensive and it makes my garage available 365 days a year.

night shift?

The guy who did the major glass work on my corvette did majority of the bodywork from 5AM to 11AM because it was the best time to work with the fiberglass. He told me he would book up any fiberglass work from end of May through most of September then work on the rest of the restoration work. Usually, he would finish up the fiberglass work then move onto something else in his air conditioned garage.

Yeah - it sucks; I don't know how I put up with it...
Pametto bugs - a euphemism for cockroaches not if you keep your house clean...
Mildew, -- yeah I pressure wash everything twice a year - had to do it in Virginia Beach too. Mosquitos ? No argument....think there were many of those around the Dismal Swamp ? Or nearly anywhere ? Wife and I are out nearly every morning walking -- and guess what ? I drive my classic cars 12 months a year....
So - yeah tough life...

Yeah - I don't know why I put up with it...

Built my shop, 4,400 sq. ft. in 1988. By 1989 I had installed A/C in it. Us old fat men can't stand heat
